Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Mouse movers

Heard about a couple folks being let go at BCBS of MN over mouse movers. Do you think Optum would do something similar? Also, do you know if teams metrics are something being used to decide if someone is let go or is it strictly based on manager rankings? (I threw my mouse mover away after hearing this!)

I would think a salaried employee would not be "judged" on jiggles vs clicks because they are really only required to be there as long as it takes to finish the work. But an hourly employee is required to be there "working" for their full day.

At least UHG offered their employees an option to buy out. Optumrx is trying to find ways to fire you to avoid layoffs.

Yes they can track it they pull up clicks versus movements. I know cause they would show me my clicks in all my one on ones. and where i was missing clicks and why.

Do you need more work? I have plenty to share and you wouldn't need a mouse jiggler anymore. All skill levels welcome.

#1 Know labor laws for salaried employees. Hourly is very different.
#2 If you are using tools to FOOL your employer, shame on you. No shortcuts for Integrity
#3 A sign of an untrustworthy relationship is one that is fraught with controls.

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Absolutely yes. That is what led to my departure from Optum. My management was monitoring activity through IEX/NICE. If the mouse was moving, but there was no clicking for long periods they would test those suspected people by sending them a Teams message and see how long it took for them to respond. At least two people were fired immediately. For me, I was suspected because I was in a lot of meetings where I didn't move mouse for a long time. Anytime my boss reached out to me I was quick to respond, but they still didn't like the numbers so I was put on final CAP for 30 days. I went through it just fine, but right after that I had yearly review and was rated at a 2 solely because of the cap. That was enough for me to jump ship, things had been going downhill for some time and I just had enough. Funny enough, right after I put in my notice my manager went back in and changed my review to a 4.

If I meet my target goal for my projects then they shouldn’t worry about the exact minutes I’m at my computer. How about that?
