Look at this as a learning opportunity. The thing you need to learn is how to present and prove your ideas in a manner that will persuade others. If you do not master this skill you will be forever frustrated.
When I was initially hired on I could see loads of issues and how to quickly fix them. It took over a year to get them all fixed due to resistance to change. Eventually all the resisters were coming to me whenever they had a problem they couldn’t solve.
Coworkers who don’t want to change will attack the change agent’s age / gender / residency status etc. You have to realize its a defense mechanism and stick to facts and solutions

A good engineer will work hard and keep mouth shut. You might be wise and old but nobody cares that it has been tried before. Have an open mind as the the laws of physics may have changed.
What does having kids have to do with anything? I am in my 50s and honestly, I can’t work as fast or as hard as I used to and my brain isn’t as sharp.
