What are your thoughts on the “urgent safety meeting”? Over 800 people on that call… didn’t realize we had that many PLs… Gotta give kudos to those who posted questions in the chat, about the lack resources, top talent leaving, and the anonymous commentary.

Safety stand downs are a superficial action that the company sometimes needs to do to add to the suite of actions for a regulator report, etc.
Seasoned H&S professionals hate them.

What a waste of time, been to so many of these so called Safety Stand Downs and for what? I have yet to see anything productive, meaningful that ever comes out of these meetings. Just another check the box for senior leadership to show Greg that they actually do something. Yet when I am in the field and bring up a safety concerns.... Just crickets from management and the safety team.
As a someone with a little inside information, I can tell you it is a miracle that we have avoided a major catastrophe in the last 8 years. However, when you eliminate jobs and use contractors you can not control the service level or quality. Yes, you may avoid a little bit of liability and save money on pay and benefits, but your ultimately pay fines and lawsuits and negative press which drives down share price. The negative press hasn't happened yet... But it's coming.... The complaints are growing and soon they'll hit the right people. It's just a matter of time.
This post shows once again how disconnected enbridge management is from their workforce.
Should a safety stand down be an all hands meeting if it so important to the company? All this tells me is only people leaders and up garner the respect of sr leaders.
Keep it up and the last remaining talent that isn’t PL’s will continue to walk.
