Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

So we are expecting more aggressive layoffs?

What’s the reason that Tan resigned from the board last year?

No packages at all this time. No money to give. Plus also the size of it will be too big to pay

Yes

We are busy with too many priorities that don’t drive customer value and thus revenue

Shed major weight or wait to die

Yes. Revenue per employee is way too low.

For sure, layoff announcement will happen during Q1 earnings report May 1st in conjunction with the massive cash bleed from not selling any products.
Very similar timefrsm to 2016 ACT...Most will be out by July 1st to celebrate the 4th at home with family

@ac+1j I took the ERP so got 18months Cobra, which is of course followed by IRMP to pay for that stuff till I am on medicare.

Amazing package, which included so many extras that they nearly paid all the taxes.

So let's just say I'm a huge fan of Pat.

That was I think the last time anyone is gonna get that kind of exit package, except for the golden parachuting executives of course.

Once Floundry is spun off, severance will be a lot closer to whatever to just what the law requires, and most workers will be on contract anyway so get virtually nothing.

Most of the cube dwellers can eventually be replaced by AI, and that day is coming fast.

Really, it is a great time to be in semi stocks, because AI is gonna get rid of most of the fixed costs.

@aq+1jpje You forgot the easiest way to do passive-aggressive layoffs, which is to have payroll issues.

Checks start going out for the wrong amount, which is always lower than expected.

All attempts to correct the issue only cause W-4 withholding to increase, and various deductions to change in unpredictable ways.

Eventually the pay gets close to $0 and the employee stops coming to work, then can be terminated for cause.

New CEO will cut the middle managers, Yay!

Intel middle managers are non-technical, they know nothing and just cheat. For example, the managers in TD ATA database group do not know what is software, hardware or data. They fake and made up expenses out of their mind, this happened many times.

I'm expecting passive-aggressive layoffs, where sheeples badges sometimes stop working and their VPN cuts out for no reason.

Heating and cooling will be reversed and the lights will start flickering.

Also, the cleaning crew will start spraying seats with ammonia while otherwise pretending to clean the cubes.

"the problem is the job market now is very tight with execs fantasizing that AI will do much work"

that is a pretty high bar
the 'execs' can barely add or form a useful thought
they are a 1 trick pony
use the cheapest labor possible and claim the cost savings as profit

I literally just saw broadcom offering 2weeks per year of service + 2 months. Intel offer is typical for the industry. the problem is the job market now is very tight with execs fantasizing that AI will do much work

So glad I took the VSP which equaled 6 months of pay + the 12 months COBRA on top of it.

It took me 4 months to find a new job in the Portland area, but with the severance + unemployment + timing of new job… it was indeed worth it.

Good luck everyone! May the odds forever be in your favor.

I heard people who know current Intel employees saying a lot of people do little work even if they want to, there's just such bad management a lot of people are doing nothing.

Imagine the deep chagrin of those who failed to see that Pat was offering them the best exit they were going to get, as they are about to find out what the industry norm is for severance nowadays (note: it ain't much).

Never again will Intel offer such packages, particularly for those with many years of service. There is simply no money for that level of generosity.

Say what you will about Pat or BK, they both offered severance packages which were far and above what anyone could expect, with nothing comparable in the industry.

Particularly for those about to retire, those packages were intended to both reward them for years of service (deserved or not) and motivate them to leave a bit sooner than planned.

What is coming is the new norm and it is definitely not IDM 1.0.

from the CNBC article "The new trajectory includes restructuring the company’s approach to AI and staff cuts to address what Tan views as a slow-moving and bloated middle management layer."

There was some mention of 'lazy round eye' in the interview, so the layoffs could be aggressive for some sheeple, with net hirings in various Malaysian operation centers.

Ya Shoulda Taken The Package!

Expect an aggressive severance package.

It should consist of Cobra as mandated by law, 2 weeks pay and a bus ticket.
