Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Whiners and Complainers

It amazes me how many whiners and complainers there are here. Most of us worked in the office for many many years…. It was called having a job. And if you don’t like the job, then quit. Don’t take Dell’s money. But if you take the money, then do the job and shut up about it

OP thought he was on truth social. LOL, spending time on a layoff site to show fake outrage. Sad.

OP is a typical snowflake bothered by what other people do. Mind your business and don't let the words of others cause you to fly into an outrage. OP behaves like an over emotional toddler.

“ From what I've read on this site and being in the office, the whiners are the Gen Z crowd. Always Angry with something. Everything triggers the Gen Z'ers “

Yes. Entitled brats who never had to do a real days work. They are more concerned with how much time off they can take than the job they are paid to perform. Covid and work-from-home gave these twerps a false sense of what it means to have a decent paying job. Now reality is setting in and they whine and cry about it

I like how HR trolls try to divide the people posting here by making boomer, GenX, and millennial generation comments.
Nice try to divide the opposition. You aren’t as clever as you think.

From what I know, boomers are the ones who complain the most about youngsters.

100% accurate. You lazy dipsh-ts better su-k it up because when Dell finally cans you other employers won’t be ba----g on your door to hire you.

  1. do the job at the bare minimum
  2. while looking for another job and
  3. point out dell is a garbage company

The OP probably strolls into the strip club with a pocket full of lint and not a single $1 bill in in his pocket - just posted up in the corner, nursing a Michelob Ultra like he’s at a business seminar. No table dances, no tipping, just pure hard-leg energy. Then he goes home, still riding that wave of confidence, and logs into this layoff site to drop some “I’m so secure in my job” comments because nothing says job security like lurking on a layoff forum at midnight.

Let's analyze the situation for just a moment. Over the past 5 years I have been doing my job and achieving better results than the previous 5 years. Suddenly I am told I need to spend $5k per year (This equates to a 9% paycut) to do my job at a different location where the environment makes doing the work more difficult and at the same time expectations for both the quality and quantity of work done had increased. Who in their right mind wouldn't complain in this situation?

I agree with the context. It’s one thing to complain about legit concerns but when you’re talking about a lack of day care or you can’t drive home in the dark - that’s entitlement.

Plenty of the same complainers drive home late from bars all of the time in the dark.

It’s sad you are ok with getting beaten down and accepting it. My suggestion. See a therapist to figure out why you are willing to accept such low standards.

On a level I get what you're saying, but life isn't black and white like this. You've been very fortunate if your life has been this simple or still too young.

There are many at Dell who have long tenure. Getting a new job isn't so easy. There are many at Dell changed their lives and families lives when asked or encouraged to go remote, moving away from a local office.

For those still near an office I get the point why sit in the office to only speak to the same people online or phone. If there was a clear real articulate reason many wouldn't fight or complain. In many cases, there isn't a permanent desk like before. In Europe and Asia/Australia they are being told to not go back as there isn't enough space.

It's a chaotic blanket policy that doesn't fit reality. Many believe there's a hidden reason to why, which if true contradicts everything MD public image promotes.

Such policies should be left at departmental level and applied where applicable.
