Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Reviews

Long story short.

I was told I'm one of the top performers on the team. I'm on my 15th year here. 3% raise, 100% bonus. It's getting old with the BS low raises. I had to hound the account team to get a real raise a few years back. Managers can't pull anything other than a few percent each year.

Is it even worth sticking around? I've had 8 managers in my time here. Cr-p for raises mostly. I've never seen an RSU either.

'If you are truly a top performer, you would know and not have to be told.'

If you were a top anything why would you be at Dell 15y???

If you are truly a top performer, you would know and not have to be told. You would be in the formal development programs and getting RSUs every year. If you're not, then your manager is saying the same thing to everyone.

Dell has always been a "leave and come back" kind of place to get any type of "big" bump. Even moving internal from say I8 to I9, you're going to get shafted compared to someone external because HR already knows what you'll work for.

Same boat as OP. 100%/3%. Last year was 100%, 4%, and 30k RSUs that lost value this year.

"20% raise here and 30,000 euro rsu."

euro definitely has more stringent labour laws. So that raise/bump may have been legally required.
At any rate, you were severely underpaid.

Count your blessings, most of my team got no raise or a raise in the 1% range. None of us even knew what an RSU is until being introduced to this site.

" I'm on my 15th year here."
Why anyone would want to invest 15y with Dell is beyond me.
You definitely stunted your career, knowledge and upward mobility.

That said, It is a lot easier to get a good pay bump with a new role and company than it is to get a promo/raise in the current.

Yes 20% raise b/c you were probably underpaid by 15K. It was to get you to 90% of your pay band. Then you’ll get the minimum. Don’t worry.

20% raise here and 30,000 euro rsu. Software engineer. The money is there just not for every department I guess
