Intel's new CEO warns employees about 'tough decisions', but Wall Street cheers

Tan, who reportedly stepped down from Intel's board last August because he expected then-CEO Pat Gelsinger to make Intel leaner, is widely expected to make significant job cuts to reduce costs.

Folsom is the bread and butter of R AND D Folsom should very much stay open. Chandler should close and move to Folsom. Santa Clara needs reshuffling and managers and corporate services need to be fired across the board

Yup. Over-paid useless PEs, Senior PEs, Fellows, Senior Fellows getting $500K+ compensation but doing at least 2 grades lower work (mostly PPT, Excel pushers and tracking others) and surviving by nepotism and brown-nosing.

they need to

  1. close Chandler and move TD to Oregon
  2. Too many middle managers even at Oregon, need them gone to cut down cost.
  3. Too much bureaucracy, can't even get a proper idea to even testing phase.
  4. Need to stop running intel like a military group, this is not, need innovation not some linear thinking folks to just press a button.
  5. need more innovative middle age folks, old habits need to die, stop hiring military ppl as managers or just because they have a MBA. best managers are team members who doesn't wanna become a manager.

Somehow I don't think Tan will find the decisions to be "tough" to make. In fact, I bet he's already made them. Now he just needs to communicate them.

"One of Tan’s major concerns was Intel's approach to layoffs. While Intel announced cuts affecting over 15% of its workforce, Tan believed the reductions were insufficient and should have targeted middle management, which he viewed as a barrier to innovation. He was particularly frustrated that, despite the layoffs, Intel's workforce remained significantly larger than that of competitors like Nvidia and TSMC combined."
