VLP vs Social Plan

I have a feeling that the leads and HR are having meetings with employees whom they wanted to leave. I’m considering to apply for the VLP, however, for employees of 2-3 years of service, i find the VLP not that lucrative.. anyone has advises on what happens with social plan? Is there a chance of active internal job search for those employees under social plan?

No one can tell anybody what to do 100% as 1. Not enough information is known on how this will play out and 2. Ultimately it’s a personal decision dependent on your own situation, job role, future ambitions etc.

If you get chosen then whatever package you get will not be as good as the VLO. An obvious point but that’s really all anyone knows for sure.

If you don’t want to leave though I would personally not take the VLO - if your goal is to stay at adidas then better to take the gamble that your role will be unaffected and accept that the risk is worth taking.

Usually it you don’t take the VLP and get selected for a social plan - you will end up with far less benefits than did with a VLP

The VLP is actually quite a good offer.

The decision of who receives a notice first within the framework of a social plan is based on social selection. Points are awarded for various social criteria:

  • the age of the employee (1 pt per year)
  • the length of service (1 pt per year)
  • number of dependent children (4 pts)
  • marriage/ spouse you need to support (8 pts)
  • possibly other factors such as severe disability.

Employees who have the lowest total score within a comparable group and are therefore considered the least in need of social protection will be dismissed first.

Now I am not an expert or close to decision makers, therefor I don’t know if we will go into social plan. However, in areas where not enough people have left the company volontarily, there will be a reorg to fit the future blueprint and headcounts will be cut and employees will go the „being at risk for 3 months until finally laid off with a severance package“ route. Only in the event of a reorg there will be support in finding a new job by workscouncil. But not guaranteed, especially not with that many people who might be at risk then.

Only the SLT team will know and they might not even know yet either. But I do not think the appetite is there to really do social plans. Dependent on the final VLP numbers they will decide if they execute the next phase or not.

And yes my expectation from the works council is that they will make sure there are options for those who do not want to go voluntarily.
