Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

RTO Takes Not Gives

Parenting is hard enough on it's own and when caring for a special needs child adds more challenges and remote work is a true blessing. During the pandemic we adjusted filled with joy working from home gave us flexibility greatly appreciative of Citrix giving. Now, not so much polar opposite CSG takes away from my family and threatening my livelihood. I will not withdraw on my own refuse to leave money on the table.

CSG email was insulting and disrespectful a kick to the B@LLz. I'm a simple man keep quiet do my work and have no chance changing your course of treating people like garbage. Waiting graciously chess match who gives up first but you will pay my severance be-a-itch!

you should have the imagination to understand familiy is ultimately ALL THAT MATTERS for those who have one.

I agree to a certain point, but where does keeping your job so you can pay for everything fit into that equation? Unless you work for yourself, everyone eventually has to kneel to Zod in one way or another. If you weren't a remote employee in 2019, but discovered the awesomeness of working from home, then you really have two choices. Keep not going into the office and see if you get a warning about it, or go find another job. If you don't go in and get warned, then you can chose to get fired for cause or to then start looking for something new.

Unbelievable how the initial post can get downvoted. I hated every minute of lockdown and WFH in sh-t conditions, except for the fact I did not have to commute and was there for my kids. Even if you do not have a family, you should have the imagination to understand familiy is ultimately ALL THAT MATTERS for those who have one. If it isn't, it should be.

MAKE THEM PAY. That's the best advice I can give. Ignore these phony bottom-feeding ###-kissers.

Stay until you get severance, and ignore these TK minions. They'll be fired themselves soon enough.

If you were hired in a full remote role, then this makes a lot of sense. Many have special circumstances that require that flexibility and companies accommodate. This may mean flexibility on your part on compensation, promotion etc, especially if you are middle-of-the-pack in your results.

If you are a rock-star sales person, coder, or whatever you do, you will put in the hours anywhere you are and your work-life balance will probably be tilted toward work anyways, those with 160+ IQ exempted. Then your results will show and management will not push back.

If you were hired for an office role, and still expect full remote, then you need to find a new role that is full remote.

So pick what balance you want and then accept the results. But please stop expecting all, full flexibility and a comfortable role. Given the tightening economy, that expectation will lead to having a lot of time in your hands.

Sorry there are folks that remote work really helped. But this is a business... And if the bosses want a work force in offices, well, then... they get a work force in the office.

The "Threatening my livelihood" his a bit hyperbolic, no? No one is saying " come to the office, or you will never work in this industry again!"

Come on. Go about your business. Find the next opportunity or one that fits your family's needs better. But lets not act like some world changing event is happening. We're in IT. I've been in it since 97.... Remember 2000/2001? dot com bubbles, lay offs, then later in 07/08 or around 14 again. Layoffs, mergers acquisitions, re-orgs, all the time...

Lets not play the victim. Or go be a union construction guy waiting on a job at the lodge, or out of work because the job got cancled etc. Your situation is not unique. Suck it Up.
