Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

SO MUCH MANUAL WORK

There are way too many manual work processes at Dell. This is not normal. I do not trust the numbers at all.

in the early 2000's, we would put printed out POs in a bin at the end of our row. Order processors would walk through and gather them at ~ 3:30pm and have them entered THAT NIGHT. If it was EOQ, they would stay until they were done. 25 yrs later, with Dell pioneering "human innovation" and efficiency gains, it takes no less than 2 weeks to get a storage PO entered, if we can even find it.

Usually a by-product of having too many non-technical project managers running things around.

Back in the 80s we had agile. Only back then it was called “winging it”

Our competitors are swooping in to take business while we commute. Ease them in Bob with 3 to 4 hours a day, call it “flexible management.”

Manual tasks = you still have a job.

Be careful what you wish for.

Agile was the most painful manual system I ever worked on. I hope they finally replaced it.
