Looking back at this purchase in retrospect. What did Schwab gain in purchasing TD Ameritrade. Seems like a waste TD Advisors still upset with a less intuitive product / Schwab Advisors upset when they get different answers when calling

Schwab could have just destroyed TDA, didn't have to bring on that dead weight.
Schwab should spin off the old TDA assets - the clients are horrible.
Really? This is silly, taking out a major competitor and gaining TOS were huge ;)
Yea I keep hearing “there was a reason TD is no longer TD”
It’s become very apparent that TD’s numbers weren’t anywhere where they alleged they were. And that’s all I say about that. We got TOS out of it, but we overpaid. By a lot. A lot, a lot.

Tim Hockey really did treat employees like people. Very personable
TOS is horrible not sure why anyone likes it unless they are an engineer
The client base left after they realized the sh-t show of Schwab. Which explains the major layoffs
In 2020, Tim Hockey resigned due to disagreement with the TDA board regarding the impending acquisition. It was very unexpected. Shows that he too saw no good reason for the TDA acquisition, we had a good thing going...
@a3+1jp97bjj1 TDA was acquired for thinkorswim anything else was a bonus
I think the whole point was just to eliminate the competition and increase client base.
