My teammate has reported our boss we had interviews with HR, few months later our boss got demoted without any direct reports, he was pushing to work for overtime without compensation and no extra time off was allowed. It was a nightmare
Sounds like you're in the same boat, I'd say you can use speak up option

Isn't what HR is doing illegal? How come they get away with this unchecked? Trying to understand. Please don't judge for trying to learn more about our laws

I would never recommend going to HR. In the last 21 months, I personally know three females who went to HR, to report their abusive management, and all of them have since been let go. In fact, one of them, a good friend of mine, was just let go today. I told her that I did not recommend going to HR after I saw what happened to the last two, and she didn’t believe that HR would do her wrong. Unfortunately, she found out the hard way.

Don’t do it.

Had a situation that was overly obvious and had been getting going on for months. Went to HR gave exact details and support from others. Interviews showed the problem with boss clearly. Even asked my extensive letter outlining all the proof not be shown to boss. They agreed and then I found out they shared EVERYTHING, I wouldn’t be surprised if boss was listening in on our calls. Then they, HR and Boss together started setting me up to fail. Then HR started to document it. When I said it wasn’t realistic that hit my Ford behaviors rating. When I said, they weren’t SMART objectives they told me the company is going through a difficult time and we know we’re asking difficult things of our employees. Blah blah. One big joke and then it all fell on me. Don’t Fcku yourself! They know how to play the game you will not win. They make sure you won’t win because if you win, that means you have a legitimate lawsuit they will do anything and everything to diminish that possibility before nearly firing you or are you quitting. In the end, it won’t matter what started it. They will gather all the data to show you are the worst human ever. Every text I sent and every phone call I made they knew about.

Yes, you should totally report your boss to HR. HR is there to help you and support your career. Also, your boss will appreciate your honesty and will surely promote you. There’s definitely no downside to reporting your boss to HR.

Think of it this way you will be able to entertain your fishing mates in retirement with Ford stories. I once went on a week long fishing trip, most guys had only one or two work stories to tell. I never ran out of entertaining Ford stories. Every night at the campfire the other guys were asking for more stories. I mean at what place can a supervisor bring a sledge hammer to the office and smash cubicles in a rage and threaten employees and not get fired?

Not just in Ford. HR in every company everywhere exists to maximize losers in power. Teach your children and broadcast on social media that HR is not your friend. Neither is anyone in management period.

It can’t be said enough, HR is there to protect the company. And there is no such thing as confidential as they are required to share any information which can be pertinent to the business…. And everything is pertinent to the business

@ad+1jp8p1c5r - I was reading your story and was thinking of one HR BP that I worked with. Then I got to the end of your story and I can honestly say that you are spot on. I was thinking of her. She was the BEST HR business partner in all of Ford. God bless her soul.

It totally depends on the character and integrity of your individual HR business partner.

I was dealing with oppressive LL6 & LL5 in 2019 who were trying to get rid of me due to perceived failures which were really just their own failures to articulate goals and leadership. I kept good records and good relationships. After they put me on a pseudo-PIP precursor process, they tried to assign stupid work and enact mindless reporting requirements.

I sat down in my HR BPs office one day and just let everything off my chest. Showed her the stuff I had and the conversations going on and the way I was being treated.

She began sitting on on my weekly report outs and she became my advocate. She would jump in and defend my work when it sounded like I made good effort and progress on what was asked, as well as pushed back on expectations they tried to set.

One day in her office, she told me plainly, "your safest move now is to find another role. I have given you the space and time to do that." And she offered to pray for me.

I quickly found a new role and, despite my prior supervisor's disappointment and attempts to slow down my transfer, started the role one month after applying to it.

Julie died of cancer during COVID but I will never, ever forget her efforts to do the right thing on my behalf.

HR and the reporting line is all a lie. Had a blatantly abusive toxic boss. Reported them, plus my direct reports were interviewed and reiterated the person's behavior. Then HR ghosted. Followed up with them over a month later. They were like, uhhh no issue found-bye. Absolutely no comment. Nothing. Flash forward to PR time. I get hit with a hit to behavior with the excuse of "we talked to people" and they didn't like you. No examples who, what, or anything. So yeah, report a leader and they will bury the complaint and then come for you at your next PR.

Just remember HR is not there to help the employees. They are only there to make sure the company does not get sued. Trust me they will support the manager by covering it up or try to move or get rid of you before supporting you. It is sad but in my 30+ year career there are only maybe 3 HR professionals that I could trust. The rest not so much. Don’t fall for the “we are family and we care about you’” HR speech. Good luck.

Keep in mind HR works for Ford not for the employee.

The LL5's, LL6's and supervision are corrupt. All about the buddy system with people believe they understand the system but are back stabbing self serving id--ts.

Not based in merit.
