I’m planning to resign and want to know if the vacation days are prorated or can we take all for the year now before and after I put my notice.

Prorated in Ireland 100%. They deduct from the last salary.
My state does not pay out accrued time. I lost 4 weeks vacation and a week of PTO when I got let go. I did get the bonus. I was part of the April 2024 cuts.
I talked with HR about accrued time and it only applies to states that force a company to pay unused time. So Massachusetts law says a company must pay out any accrued time. Meaning if you get 4 weeks time and have not taked time off, the company must pay you for accrued time up to the date you leave.
Texas on the other hand has no such law, HR told me to take all of the time available vacation and personal before you retire or leave if you live in a state with no such laws. You do not pay back time taken unless the state you live in has a law to pay unused vacation time.
@a7+1jp8e131d - or quit being a mo--n and go into Workday and use the tools provided to us.
There are multiple reports on the time off tabs showing you how much vacation/PWT has been accrued by whatever date you choose as well as ones that show how much has been used
OP - if you use more than accrued before a WFR, you usually don't have to pay it back. If you use more and are leaving on your own, don't be surprised if HR asks for some money back.
or just do the math
"Yeah, I’m confused about the “earned” time so I can take vacation accordingly instead of them docking off my pay"
open a ticket with HR and they will be able to give you the amount of hours you have accrued up to a date you specify.
Very clearly written in policy they are prorated. You can use them all at the start of the year, but if you leave the company you owe back was wasn’t “earned” by time.

i believe you "earn" them as you go but dell give you access to a full years compliment in advance. If you take more than you have "earned" then you will be docked the appropriate amount on your last pay cheque to pay for the unearned time you took.
You get all your vacation days availble to use at the start of every calendar year.
