Lip-Bu Tan was previously on the board but left after disagreements:

I think he was referring to the number of morbidly obese sheeple working at Intel.

As you notice, he is not a fat person and so may feel uncomfortable being around so much donut eating.

WSJ says that Tan backed Habana labs(Gaudi) and sold to Intel for $2B and his private venture Walden International backed Chinese startups?

@c8... everything you said is true but what did you do last week that made the company better? Chances are your attitude of superiority is only held by you. You are likely just as much dead weight as any of your co-workers... maybe more. You are deciding what is important instead of following what leadership wants and needs. If everyone does their own thing you end up with what Intel is today. I doubt Lip-bu Tan can save it.

  1. Too many people who do barely anything and spend much of their time stealing the hard work of others.
  2. Too many useless managers who do nothing and push their people to do bulllshit work on really pretty (but completely useless) powerbi dashboards. These useless managers work hand-in-hand and very closely with #1 above.
  3. Too much time wasted in meetings that have very little value and take the time of 20+ people, when only 4 or 5 are needed. Managers from #2 keep track of who does & doesn't attend these meetings and then punish those who don't.

If someone who works at Intel is able to seduce Lip before the layoffs and turn him into another sacrificial BK, we can ride the slow train to death for another 8-12 quarters, easily.

Turning a ship the size of Intel is a super power in it's own right. Especially one with such a large entrenched bureaucracy as Intel has.

Politics aside for a moment - we're seeing the death bellows of many large, entrenched bureaucracies right now with DOGE - the main difference is the fight is in full public view instead of behind closed doors. We can only imagine and speculate at the resistance Pat and others met while trying to change Intel's course.

The infamous Oscar Wilde quote is very applicable: "The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy." - Ever large bureaucracy eventually exists largely to preserve itself.

This is why it is so incredibly difficult to reduce the size of a bureaucracy.

Every member is convinced the organization will fail tomorrow if they are let go today, and every member fights/resists any and all changes that threaten their bureaucracy and the status quo.

Best of luck to Tan - I truly hope he succeeds where many have failed at Intel.

AMD needs a healthy Intel to drive motivation and competition. The world will be watching.
