Ford Motor Company investigated itself, and unsurprisingly found no wrongdoing.

Ford HR works for Ford not employee's.

HR is a waste of time because they will work against you.

Most of supervision and LL6, LL5's are lazy and not that smart....

@d0 True you won’t know the behind the scenes goings on. But best to known the lay of the land before extending your neck. One LL6 got reported multiple times for being hard core abusive. The guy had substance abuse issues and everyone knew it (lots of trips to his car for a pick me up, explosive rage, sweats and shakes). Behind the scenes the LL5, LL4 and other LL6 said “yeah he’s an ah-le but he’s our ah-le” and we were told to zip our lips during HR investigations. The women and effeminate men who reported his behaviors were painted as having mental issues and relocated to less challenging jobs (aka encouraged to leave the company). Heck even the Ford Garage at WHQ called the hotline and reported him due to erratic behavior when picking up a lease car, all swept under the rug.
All this to say you better know the character of the LL5, LL4 and LL3 before opening your mouth.

Yes, I reported one once. You won't know what is going on behind the scenes, but mine ended up taking an abrupt exit when we got back from Christmas break that year and left the company. I don't know if it was voluntary or not.

Regardless, you deserve to be treated with respect, no matter what level you may be.

Think of HR and your leadership team as being the department of propaganda. Would you air a grievance with the minister of propaganda?
Everyone I know who has reported a bosses behavior has been targeted for removal. In one instance an entire team went to HR to complain about the LL6. All of them were serially fired for BS reasons. After that the LL6 was moved under a different LL5 doing admin work. HR put a note in the LL6’s file that she should never have any direct reports again. Fast forward 4 years and once again she had direct reports and was up to the same tricks. During the 4 year hiatus she secured a LL5 husband and birthed his child so clearly she had mended her ways, not.
You do you, but best to wait until after you have left F to report your boss, if ever.

Just keep your head down, look for another job and leave.

Complaining to leadership or boss' boss will never work

Wisest words I ever heard from my PhD academic advisor. "If you don't fit, GIt"! Surely you can"t be that desperate for a job. Have faith in your talents you were blessed with. It is always better to kick A$$ then to kiss it! Good luck!

Take stock

  • is your boss a narcisstic psychopath? If so there is really no hope, just grey rock for 40 hours a week and spend your time looking for another opportunity. With these characters they tend to stick in one position as those above and lateral know what they are. One such guy was a LL6 for 23 years and held just 2 positions. He was known for continual staff quits.
  • otherwise observe and learn what is important to your bosses career, then make him look good at work. stay pleasant and just ignore the bs.

This is one of the issues again with things like H1B's. People forget the other side of things and forget that people are subjected to abuse because of their status.

@OP. Minimize exposure time with the boss. If you work with a global team, try getting approved to work odd hours. It is easier to fend off toxicity through emails and chat, than in person. Also stick to your 40 hours a week. The boss cannot touch you there.

Also, if you have a strong character and personality, you could impose yourself, stop the boss, but that takes brains and brawn. I would be as obnoxious as I can, without openly disrespecting the boss (been there, done that). The issue is that right now, that could mean a quick exit for you, and that's what you want to avoid.

So the other option is deaf ears to stoopid words and ideas. Simply ignore the boss all you can. Make sure to CYA with emails. If it is in a chat, take a screenshot before it gets deleted, or archived. Meetings from home can be recorded with your phone. Out of luck if you are at the office. Keep track of everything, just in case you have to fend off an unjustly accusation before the LL5. Yes, it will be very stressful.

Try mastering something important, but that nobody else wants to do. It would help with longevity at this company, and maybe some LL5 visibility. In the meantime, grow your network, find another position outside Ford and be patient. This is a long game to play. If you cannot leave in 2 years, the LL6 will (reorgs, rotations, promotions). If you can, try to estabilize or change your immigrant status (hard to do these times).

Try to take control by networking both inside and outside of Ford. You can join professional organizations and go to events. If it's possible to change jobs while maintaining your status, you can start interviewing or at least planning your next move. Stay calm and take charge as much as you can.

Very common with visa folks at F. Most supervisors will try to squeeze you and if you don’t do what they are asking, they will get abusive. Only option is to leave, changing org is not possible here.

Honest truth. They prey on people like you. Your best chance is laying low and finding a safe place. When I say they prey on people like you, it is not a fabrication. When they know you don’t have any safe options or places to run, they take full advantage.

I’m gonna pray for you and keep you in my mind.

I’m sorry. Good luck to you❤️❤️
