Global Payments Inc and Fiserv to merge? I heard Global Payments is currently going through a wild "transformation" with McKinsey & Associates. Oh boy. From reading their board, looks like Global Payments has ruined legacy businesses they acquired; Heartland Payments, TSYS, EvO...ect.

Global Payments or some other company, a large scale acquisition/merger is definitely on the horizon. There is no way we are meeting our numbers organically
Antitrust shouldn't be an issue in US. Processing is one of the most competitive and Global through Heartland is relatively small fish.
Bigger issues would be two Frankensteins combining their tech stacks and each party's balance sheets. Global has a lot of debt that would have to be part of the deal.
Better option would be for our friends at KKR buying Global and selling some parts to us - their issuing business, maybe some of their customer portfolios, throw away their technology.
Global is the walking dead, better to chop it up and sell it for parts.
That might be a tough sell to the government. This administration is more forgiving than others with regards to mergers but you would be nearing antitrust territory.
Sounds like the merger will be seamless. That will make the numbers look great! (for a couple of quarters)
The only question is, will we ruin their products, or will they ruin ours?
