Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Humor me

If you're still happy at Fiserv, can you please tell us why? I’ve seen a few posts from people who seem to still enjoy their jobs and are defending the company, and I’m really having trouble wrapping my head around it. What am I missing here that others are seeing?

No one on my floor is happy. Most are planning on leaving. People are already looking and applying. The manager doesn’t pretty much nothing but play on her phone, eat and micromanage because she does not know the software and won’t to try to learn it. They make up requirements to add pressure and stress instead of working with people 1 on 1 to meet goals. And minorities end up pipped. It’s very sad. But it shows how the leadership doesn’t not care about the precision staff or clients.

I currently work from home. Almost 6 weeks vacation. Great benefits and enjoy my work. Shouldn't work anywhere if not happy going to work. I work for God, not to please Man. Gal 1:10

@ar+1jnzd5q5t I wouldn't agree about the benefits. Health insurance is very costly, and 401k 3% match is on the low end of fintech.

Fiserv is a great company. The issue is with the current leadership. I don’t blame FB as much. It’s the 1 and 2 levels below him where the issue is. For example, FIG technology leadership -CIO and his buddy. They are one of the worst, the most incompetent leaders that I’ve ever seen anywhere, in all the tech companies I have worked for. I still can’t understand why they are in that position. Their attitude towards the American workforce is very inappropriate and out of touch. They don’t understand our technology. It is so obvious. Sometimes we laugh about the stupidity that comes out of this crew. I hope they move on soon, and find something they are good at.
So, comedy. Sometimes the nonsense is hilarious. That’s why I like this job.

We’re not happy. We are miserable. Those post are from HR hacking into our forums. This is a company that could be great but the leadership has made it unbearable. It will get worse until all the incompetent 1960s mentality leaders are forever gone. Mentor and trust your employees and you will get more out of them. Don’t luck them up in a building for 9 hours and expect a positive outcome!

I think the problem here is lack of a general sense of balance. It’s become extreme as opposed to reasonable. I get the in office thing. But it’s not the solution to all the companies obstacles. More can be gained by allowing a reasonable amount of flexibility in general across the board and not eliminate the flexibility or stigmatize flexibility or remote work as weakness or not productive. We all know that it is productive for most things. But, other things we need to do in person together. My thought is that this is driven by one mans idea of what good is, and comes from experience that is not modern or in sync with what the modern technical world allows. It’s when the leadership around that person has learned that offering common sense is met with extremely negative reaction that the whole leadership tier there becomes ineffective. For me - I like my coworkers, manager, and even my org but think we could do so much better with a more balanced ability to empower people, especially when most work all hours and are available and on regular occasion working weekends and on their family vacations.

Good news is we have a new leader who seems different, but we won’t know really until the old leader is gone.
Then we will see if we have a shot to really get into a better place here.

It is not that bad most of the time. Many of the items we are asked to do are not new, 5 days a week, hours.

I wouldn’t defend Fiserv (as it promotes a culture of fear and toxicity), but personally…

My team are great
My manager is great
I’m getting some experience for my resume
The job market is difficult at the moment

So, for now, I stay.

There is nothing left to be happy about. They took everything away from us that assisted with work-life balance. I literally can’t imagine going into office for 5 days in a row commuting one hour just to get there to open my laptop and join a Microsoft teams call when I can do it at home and still be as efficient. I am applying everyday and will leave soon as I get something. This place is not it anymore. I have not met a single happy person here who likes the micromanaging badge swipes and sapience. I know one guy that’s only 10-15 minutes away from here and he hates it too! Goodluck to all current employees… hope it gets better for us.
