Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Why Do People Think HR Does Nothing? πŸ€”

HR often gets a bad reputation β€” many employees believe HR just pushes paperwork, enforces policies, and organizes events.
But the reality is far from it!

πŸ‘₯ Talent Acquisition & Retention – Finding and keeping the right people is no easy task!
πŸ’Ό Conflict Resolution – Managing workplace disputes and maintaining harmony is crucial.
πŸ“ˆ Employee Growth & Development – HR ensures upskilling, career growth, and training programs.
πŸ“Š Company Culture & Well-being – Building a positive work environment isn’t just about fun activities.
πŸ“œ Compliance & Legal Matters – Keeping the company safe from legal troubles is a full-time job!

The impact of HR is felt, not always seenβ€”but businesses wouldn’t function without it! πŸš€

Do you agree or disagree?

The fact that the OP did a copy and paste from LinkedIn, is as a pathetic example of Citi HR contribution as you can get.

Cause with exceptions they don’t do anything but regurgitate what’s on CFU. And when confronted with real situations cover for other internal HR area. Saw it myself.

I love Citi HR. Their work is mysterious and important.

From the OP: "HR often gets a bad reputation β€” many employees believe HR just pushes paperwork, enforces policies, and organizes events. But the reality is far from it! "

HR has a bad reputation because all of the above and more, ARE TRUE.

HR works for the Employer/Company, NOT the Employee. HR will defend and protect the Employer even when the Employer is blatantly wrong, just like the Legal Dept..

Despite putting on a Bull$hit show that HR wants to "help" Employees, HR is NOT our Friend, Relatives or Family. You can NOT FIRE or LAYOFF your Relatives, Family and Friends. You can choose Not to speak to them, but you're Still related to your Family members whether you like it or not.

Employers, HR, their Legal Dept., and the Employees are on opposite sides of the table, AND have diametrically opposite objectives, goals and intents. This is just like a Court Room scenario.
Can both sides be cordial and respectful ? Yes. But make Not mistake, we're on opposite sides. The relationship between the Employer/HR/Legal Dept. And the Employees is an ADVERSARIAL ONE. NOT and NEVER on the same side.

Employers/HR/Legal Dept. want to pay Employees as Low a Salary, Bonuses and Benefits (medical, pension, etc.) while squeezing out as many waking working minutes out of the Employees as they can get away with.

Employees want to get as a High a Salary, Bonuses and Benefits out of the Employers while working as little or few minutes or hours as they can get away with.

I’ve been unimpressed with every HR business partner in my career. At citi in particular, the canned response is to just refer to the handbook. They just take up space on calls otherwise.

HR: where Korporate Karens wield power over peons, and as a result, LOVE doing their job!

Why? HR types are never available via Teams. Do not respond to emails. Demand answers from you immediately but slow walk anything you need

I'd appreciate HR if they actually had the best interests of the employee. They don't. They're underhanded and in most cases lack the skills to do their job effectively.

This is a copy\paste job from LinkedIn which shows the OP is probably really is from Citi HR as the copy\paste job is lazy and reflects the true work effort given by HR.
