Really frustrated with the direction my direct managers and directors are taking. It’s one thing to make mistakes—everyone does—but when there’s a pattern of poor decision-making with zero accountability, it starts to feel like a never-ending cycle of déjà vu. They claim to have learned from past missteps, yet their actions suggest otherwise.
It’s easy to say the right things, but if the same reckless patterns continue, words mean nothing. Some people (and leaders) just assume that if they ignore a problem long enough, it will disappear—rather than actually doing the work to fix it.
Unfortunately, in both cases, it’s the people around them who end up paying the price. That’s why I’m preparing to jump ship. I’ve learned that sticking around hoping things will improve is like expecting someone with a history of bad decisions to suddenly start making great ones. At some point, you have to accept that you’re dealing with a sinking ship and stop waiting for the captain to course-correct.
If leadership refuses to evolve, the only smart move is to step off before you're dragged down with them.
