Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

Reputational damage

With thousands of legitimate unfair dismissal cases worldwide surely there is something that can be done to cause some serious reputational damage and make this company accountable.

I don't know about all countries but in many, they ask you to sign a severance/settlement agreement in which you are effectively waiving your rights to any legal action resulting from most potential causes (like unfair dismissal, discrimination etc). In some countries they are very meticulous in designing the severance agreement in terms of payments offered in such a way, that going to an employment court, you wouldn't get any more out of it for yourself than what they are offering you in the first place.
Those made redundant with longer tenure at Cargill have no incentive to litigate because they'd been paid off a princely sum which already includes any and all potential wins they could have at court/tribunal/mediation (different names in different countries).

I looked at the company pages on this website for other major competitors doing significant layoffs - and you can see a stark difference. No other company has generated this much mistrust, hatred, and sheer disregard for people or process. Cargill leaders will try to normalize this feedback as part of layoffs, but the amount of stories that i have heard recently not just from the past year but from decades before is shocking.

How they treated people is very wrong and needs reporting by media and other publicists so future employees know what to expect unless Cargill starts to value all people not just senior ones

Karma will get Cargill. Out VP is what the Britts call a chocolate teapot so full of BS and zero knowledge of operational challenges. The whole function is so vast and immature for a company of this size we just about address basic stuff but yet she sells a story of achievements and impact. Talk about believing your own hype!

Unfortunately they have more money than I can dream of to spend on expensive legal teams. They know this and abuse it. Shame on HR for not advising them on doing things the right way. The way they treated people I know is despicable. And yes the fake smiles of our bosses tell us the company is going places.

Go to the media - I’ll bet they are eager to publish a story and there are MANY willing to talk about those unethical leaders at the top. Every single one of them is worse than the next.
