Thread regarding Wayfair Inc. layoffs

340 employees laid off, mainly employee tech.

This came out of nowhere, very sad day to hear that so many were let go. The falling stock price and tariffs has me worried for other depts.

There was team based re-structuring and reductions across CM and B2B on 2/7. Maybe your team wasn’t impacted, doesn’t mean that there wasn’t reductions.

Two posts in a row seem to blaming the lack of information on being shouted down on here. Not true! The last two previous posts that were shut down or scoffed at were related to 1/31 and 2/7 posts that turned out to be false. Spreading fake info isn’t going to get anyone anywhere.
Look folks I’ve been here a long time at this point ,things are falling apart and this years going to have some pain in it . Spreading fake dates won’t help anything though.

And no one reported it because any claims of a layoff that don’t turn out to be mass WARN layoffs are shouted down on this forum now. The judgement in this group is the reason there was no advanced warning.

I agree with the previous comment about outsourcing.. All wayfair tech jobs are going to India and other places except USA. Crazy.. Seems like IT is no longer a good career for Americans.. I’m still wondering if is because of cheap labor in India or is because the one of the owners is Indian-Americsn? 🧐

It isn't the tariffs, literally for over a year they have stated they would rather lay off 1 experienced tech worker to higher 4 people in India for less pay. Wayfair is regressing, not progressing, in the wrong direction.

First Berlin, then Austin TDC. There is hardly 2 engineers per a facility for warehousing, now to also have them do delivery agents. Company is cutting at the wrong seam and not realizing that the operational front has so much bloat that the tech departments in the rear are struggling to breath.
