That has always been a great question. We don't know exactly the terms of his performance contract. The contract could have been worded to say that if he can keep BP shares from dropping by 5% in a year's time, then he would be rewarded. If the share price fell by a greater amount, then he would receive less money. Who knows, perhaps the "low bar" value is to keep BP from being acquired by Shell, it would be represent as an "accomplishment." As I said, that's being very low-bar.
