Lots of fake jobs floating in job portals. Some of them I sent to employees for referral then they could not find in their career sites. Don’t know companies are trying to do ? May be for compliance for processing the permanent residencies(GC)
You will receive rejection within 2 days of applying. Cisco has frozen all IT onsite and if you connection in management there are some chances to come back

The job market is tight. Google, apple and nvidia list a lot of openings but are not responsive. I forget which one of these companies, but one would show the same open job for months and months with obviously many qualified candidates applying.

I did here some responses from palo alto networks and amazon aws.

This list is from HackerNews, it's a summary of 'hiring' threads... user names are in parenthesis...

here it go:

# AI & Human Connection
Several companies emphasize using AI to enhance, not replace, genuine human interactions, whether it's real-time Q&A, AI-assisted regulatory compliance, or meaningful human-computer interfaces. There's a strong sentiment that AI should amplify human potential, not replace it.

  • Oliver's Army emphasizes the importance of genuine human interactions in a digital age: "Prompt humans, not bots." (brandoniscool)
  • Tram Case focuses on impactful AI in legal tech, directly helping vulnerable populations: "building solutions that literally change people's lives." (samratjp)
  • TerraAI highlights a practical, climate-oriented application of AI: "generative models that produce 3D geological models conditioned on geophysical surveys." (terraai)

# Social and Environmental Impact
Several contributors highlight missions explicitly designed around social good or environmental impact, using technology as a tool to drive positive real-world change.

  • CrossnoKaye uses AI explicitly to fight climate change, cutting emissions dramatically: "Our Energy AI application drives an average 40% energy reduction, cutting megatons of GHG emissions." (tarynbialek)
  • Exnaton aims at simplifying renewable energy investment: "investing in the energy transition [made] simple and fun." (mariaufnal)
  • Optimal, another climate-tech company, claims ambitious AI-driven impact in real-world infrastructure: "building the world’s most advanced AI control system for high-tech greenhouses." (davidhunter)

# Complex Problem Solving at Scale
Numerous positions highlight the need to tackle complex technical challenges, often at a global or large-scale infrastructure level.

  • Intuition Machines describes their role clearly: "Own and scale critical infrastructure, optimize performance, and drive reliability across a globally distributed system." (imi-recruitment)
  • MongoDB emphasizes high-stakes infrastructure management: "Building and maintaining container images, OS packages, and infrastructure tooling." (godisdad)
  • Radar Labs offers technical challenges around geospatial data: "Doing 1B+ API calls per day." (timjulien)

# Remote and Flexible Work Culture
Several companies explicitly emphasize flexibility, autonomy, remote work, and high trust.

  • Pulumi highlights flexibility in roles and location: "REMOTE (USA and Europe)" with broad engineering and product roles. (meagan-pulumi)
  • Reef Technologies champions full remote flexibility: "Full Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere. Flexible Hours: Pick your own hours." (przadka)
  • PostHog emphasizes growth without bureaucracy: "growing through more autonomy and transparency not through process." (timgl)

# Impactful & Mission-Driven Startups
Companies highlighting mission-driven roles emphasize social or environmental impact, or solving deeply meaningful problems.

  • Building Swell positions itself in response to the housing shortage and industrial transformation: "arming modern builders with mission-critical technology...to address the housing shortage." (jordaneast)
  • Sphinx Defense clearly ties technology to national security: "building software to solve complex national security problems for America and its allies." (meganvs)
  • Optimal shows ambition to revolutionize critical infrastructure: "Optimal builds AI agents to control the world’s critical infrastructure." (davidhunter)

# Developer-Centric Cultures
Companies highlight that their internal culture strongly emphasizes developer experience, ownership, and autonomy.

  • Fathom explicitly distinguishes its environment: "Low ego, high integrity, highly collaborative, hard working." (madiganf)
  • Lumafield describes their startup ethos: "our company, like our platform, is designed for upgrades. We’re building for greater intelligence, autonomy, and speed." (ejerzyk)
  • LiveKit focuses on passionate builders and autonomy: "BUILDERS!!!! — Passion for building something truly impactful." (livekitcareers)

# AI & Machine Learning Integration
AI and Machine Learning emerge as significant themes across multiple companies, integrating deeply into diverse industries and roles.

  • Muck Rack explicitly addresses the integration of ML into practical workflows: "develop Machine Learning technologies which help simplify the jobs of our users." (lsemel)
  • Layer Health illustrates tangible impacts in healthcare: "leveraging LLMs to transform how clinical data is understood and used." (mikelayerhealth)
  • Chroma showcases technical depth in building AI infrastructure: "building the memory layer for AI applications." (philip1209)

# Open Source & Community-Centric Approaches
Several companies explicitly highlight their commitment to open source or community-oriented work.

  • Coder clearly mentions their open-source commitment: "open-source, remote-first software company." (connorb-coder)
  • Jam.dev highlights developer community engagement: "Dev tools company with 180,000+ users. $15M in funding from Vercel CEO, GitHub CTO, Cloudflare CEO." (irtefa)
  • Cogram embraces transparency with generous remote and holiday policies, engaging deeply with its user community: "Fully remote work environment with three offsite events per year around the world." (ricwo)

# Social Impact & Nonprofit Initiatives
A rare but notable theme emerges around non-commercial ventures and social missions.

  • Toontown: Corporate Clash uniquely positions itself as fully volunteer-driven: "We pride ourselves as being a training ground for up-and-coming talent...we have raised over $54K for children's health and LGBTQ+ charities." (tyteen4a03)

# Uncommon Opinions & Approaches

This section highlights less-common themes or opinions expressed that differ notably from the majority:

  • Volunteer Development with No Salary:
Unusually, Toontown: Corporate Clash seeks volunteers rather than paid developers, emphasizing personal growth and charitable impact rather than financial incentives:
    > "Everybody on the team is a volunteer - there is no salary, we do not solicit donations and all expenses are funded by our staff." (tyteen4a03)
  • Hyper-specific Niche ( Maritime Shipping ):
The maritime sector receives little attention elsewhere, but here it's presented as ripe for disruption due to inefficiencies and legacy code:
    > "Nearly every person is affected by stuff shipping on the seas—but the industry itself is antiquated and archaic, and hampered by paperwork and bureaucracy." (mebassett)
  • Government Contract & Defense Tech:
Few companies explicitly focus on defense or government contracts. Sphinx Defense openly links its mission to national security, emphasizing patriotism and security, not typical of most other postings:
    > "Sphinx Defense builds software to solve complex national security problems for America and its allies." (meganvs)
  • Localized Impact & Small-scale Regional Jobs:
Onja uniquely situates itself geographically and socially, emphasizing localized impact rather than global scale:
    > "Join a social-impact driven company... training underprivileged youth into world-class software developers... in Madagascar." (OnjaMadagascar)
  • Paid Fractional Engineer:
Portal Stargaze explicitly offers fractional, highly-paid hourly roles, unusual among mostly full-time, salaried roles:
    > "Fractional Engineer | Part time, 10-20 hours/week, $100-$150/hr (potentially full-time later)." (shishy)

These examples illustrate distinct approaches to hiring, reflecting differing values, motivations, and business models compared to the majority.
