Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Clinton moves

Wave 1 must decide if moving or not April 2.

If yes, cash in hand to make move to Houston in 90 days.
If no, termination June 30. Severance tbd based on # of layoffs

Tomorrow is the big decision day. I'm hoping >50 are NOT going to Houston.

@27w+1jnp4ghwc that's an easy prediction based on the number of REs in Wave1. Vast majority of the rest will move as there's no oil and gas industry in NJ and it is hard to find anything to match the Exxon pay

My prediction is the number of "No"s will be < 50 for Wave 1

So it seems the company is banking on needing to reach 50 people from wave 1 not transferring to Houston for the Warn Act severance to be applicable. Does anyone have an idea of how many of the ~160 people are moving or not moving?

Pretty much everyone I know who asked for it got moved to wave 2. Those are the folks who are bailing. Might as well hang out and collect a paycheck for a year or 2.

@e0+1jnp4ghwc we got told a couple months ago the number was 176.
Granted a few have left since then on their own.

Yeah if you say no, there is no changing your mind.

If you say yes, then change your mind there will be no severance and of course you'll have to repay any relocation funds you were given.

Also sounds like Sarnia will get information about packages and termination dates mid-year as no one is offered relocation. About 40% or so of people have already quit or been shuffled to a different IOL role in country.

@bc+1jnp4ghwc You're right. The layoffs will continue down in Houston. There's no point in moving to Houston to be laid off in a year or so because Kathy wants to offshore my job to India.

IF I said yes initially to move in April, and was then later ranked NSI or NI, I sure as heck wouldn't move. They would probably classify me as quiting and I lose any severance that would come my way, Headcount goes down and management is happy.

If I said no to relocation, my team has a higher chance in NSI or NI, and then they too would likely change their mind. Headcount goes down even more. Ok up
per management might be liking this more. What's left of my team now gets to pick up the work of two!

Relocate only to get fired in Texas

ExxonMobil has been using this playbook for several decades to relocate employees from one location to another.

If they don’t move and are terminated June 30th, will they be ranked? I’m betting not, which will force more people into NSI or NI and magnify the drop in head count.
