Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Been told I'm in-scope for redundancy

I had a call with a senior manager today where I was told my job is 'in scope' for the transformation change and the next step is group consultation. Am I right in assuming myself and around 20-30 of my colleagues will be on the same call where we're all told our services are longer required?

If you’re in the US there is no “group consultation”. One letter then you can be walked off the premises. If you are in the UK then consultation is legally required if the company is making more than 20 redundancies, so if you have been told that you can deduce that there will be at least 20 redundancies. It is the number of redundancies not the number of people who have been notified “at risk”, they could have given 100 people “at risk” letters.

I was made redundant last year and HR was on my call. US based but hope that helps. Found another job internally

Not sure, but if you suspect such a call is placed on your calendar, hit "Reply all" and see if HR is on the call. HR is always on the calls where such an announcement is to be made.

Hope that helps ease some anxiety
