Did anybody get fired due to not meeting the magic numbers? Was it HR driven or did your manager hold the door open for you? Anybody?

For my team basically no one did 2 days in the office after the first week. Only about half of us are in the office this week.
I've made a point of never going in anymore. I used to try to get in once a week or so. Not heard a peep
Most of the time, HR tells managers to cut staff on their team. They have your performance reviews on file. I remember once that my former manager said that HR will see one discrepancy in your performance review and will use that for consideration for layoffs. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a negative comment. It can be as simple as something that you would just simply need to improve on.
HR is extremely cutthroat in big tech. I work for a much smaller tech company now and I don’t need to create tickets to HR when I have a very small but circumstantial question.
