Just like the oh so great harmonized benefits which sc--wed over us at UG. Where we lost out coverage and the choice. Cost passed off to employees more to save for profits.
This will be no different.

The stock price must rise, at all costs.
Thanks ENB, I thought moral could not go any lower.

Another Enbridge fail. They send out this email, but you can’t get any details until “closer to the effective date”. Nothing good for the employees if Enbridge is doing it… that’s just not their style. Fortunately I’m a little over 50, so get to chose. Wonder what else they’ll take away before I retire?!? Can’t get out of this place soon enough! I was once an extremely dedicated employee, and have historically been characterized as a high performer, but why bother these days!?! The company has ZERO dedication to the employees, so why would you be dedicated to the company? I get SO SICK of them sending mental health bullsh-t emails!! They don’t give a rats a-s about our mental health!!

Everyone needs to realize anytime the company makes a decision like this. It is in no way to the benefit of the employee at all. This is to the benefit of the company to save money. That’s all they care about is return to the shareholders and the executives compensation.

The sooner you realize that you are a cost to this company, and they do not give a fu-k about your health, wealth, welfare, and ultimately retirement.

Nobody has to leave within 5 years. Anyone over the age of 50 before July 1st with 5 years of service can get the old plan. Was what I heard . But should probably get confirmation?

Retirement at 55 is a dead dream that only boomers were able to realize.

So this idea that everyone at 50 will be leaving in 5 years is a bit rosey.

The reality is most generations, especially millennials and gen z won’t be able to retire. They will get into the housing market way too late and have to work to 75 to pay off their mortgage.

Now - we have taken away their retirement health benefits.

Maybe we need to get th boomers out of executive and CEO positions - since their greed and obvious disconnection from reality are trickling down into policy and action that just isn’t realistic.

Why remove medical benefits? They don't just want us to retire, they want us to die. That's what family does, isn't it?

What’s funnier on the US side is they state that you may qualify for the federal premium tax credit to help offset the cost; that credit was meant for those barely making money above the federal poverty line of $15,000. Why not just mention food stamps too. I guess they don’t expect us to retire comfortably.

"most employees get let go as soon as you hit a certain age of years of service" - I doubt it if it will be the case after this change, since the people above 50 will be leaving anyway within 5 years, why company bother paying them?

Awesome! Now you can layoff employees before they qualify for Medicare and leave them to the mercy of ridiculous COBRA payments! Way to go Enbridge, where our employees are our most disposable asset!

Melissa's email was sent to Canadian employees. The program will match what is offered to US employees.
Seems you will get an allotment of $$, and you decide what package of medical benefits is best for you, similar to what we are offered now for our Benefits options.
Doesn't seem to be any details, and employees won't know for at least another 5 years before someone 49 elects to retire. Who knows if its better/worse than the current plan, but favours the shareholders bottom line.

It’s on elink now. I don’t remember what it said exactly but essentially if you are younger than 50, kiss your retirement medical benefits from the company away. This is for US employees. I’m not for sure what the story is for Canadian employees.
