What really happened after the earnings call this past month that caused the stock to drop down into the low twenties? Someone explain how missing the goals by a small margin resulted in such a decline. And why hasn’t Teradata been acquired by Microsoft or another company by now? What are they waiting for?

As the customer base continues to shrink rapidly, any CIO or CFO worth their options understands that being among the last standing is a su-kers’ game. Other companies, particularly Snowflake, have shown that they can handle Teradata workloads. Even at $23, it feels very overpriced.
Eventually a PE firm will buy at a discount to milk the cash flow from the remaining customers who are on support. This will be late 2026 or 2027. SM has already talked to the board about this strategy. They will all get a nice bonus one the transaction settles. Regular employees get sc--wed.
Why would any sane company pay a premium on the stock price to acquire TDC? Far easier to poach customers because of TDC's failed execution, poor management, uncompetitive product, content-free marketing, declining revenues, lack of new customers, and disgruntled existing customers.
Of course, the Board and LT want a premium price for any sale so they can further line their pockets.
Yeah, sure you will. Maybe if market cap is $500M.
We might see market cap match revenue very quickly!
We thought for years someone was going to acquire us just like ATT, NCR, etc. etc.
Rumor was Google was going to, but not likely.
Those days are long gone.
It's been a pleasure working here for so long, but now nothing is going to save us. (help us Obi-Wan!!)
Every current customer is in the process migrating their TD solution to something else.
It's the outlook that made it drop. CB basically told it as it is on the way out the door which was 2025 is another year of declining revenue. Competition is eating away at teradata, they are losing customers. Watch it drop down into low teens before a possible suitor comes along to put it out of its misery
Maybe Indian company
Maybe after some company buys a buggy whip manufacturer, a hard-wire telephone company, and a door to door brush sales company, they will be interested in the forward looking Teradud.
Cash flow is still strong and there are some big name customers so TD could be attractive to someone.
"missing goals by a small margin" - what koolaid are you drinking. No, zero, nada New Logos...
Teradata has nothing to offer. Their customer base is shrinking. Their solutions are dated.
