Cisco demands that they deliver, and they can’t, so they’re bailing.
They never did that for Cisco software engineers. What's the difference?
probably completed a retention bonus period from the acquisition
this is pretty common for acquisitions, no surprise they are all bailing around the same time
any further comp they would get from Cisco would be a pittance
Splunk was a 20 year old company when acquired. Not a startup.
Cisco demands that they deliver, and they can’t, so they’re bailing.
Also it’s worth considering the personality of the employee for each of the companies. The type of person that thrives in a startup environment is different than the person at a large corporate behemoth.
It’s not surprising to me that Splunk employees may not feel like they fit into the Cisco corporate culture
None have left from my team. Where?
Cisco completed the acquisition of Splunk on March 18, 2024 so the big question is what were the vesting terms for the rank and file. If it was one year they have their foot out the door in time for two weeks notice to carry them to the one year mark.
As with so many acquisitions the acquired want to create new stuff, not fix more than 40 years of Cisco's mistakes, so they leave as soon as is reasonably possible.
Money, money, moooneeeeey!
Splunk people made money ! Time to go
I think departures will really start once the role mapping will be completed. Apparently RSU refreshers will be much lower than the ones we had at Splunk.
