Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Canon Layoffs - Full Breakdown

I cannot tell you how big the layoff round will be, but I can tell you the breakdown ratio of Americans that get laid off versus expats that get laid off.

Japanese expat layoffs - 0%

Americans laid off - 100%

Sounds fair right? Especially considering the executive teams are almost entirely comprised of expats that have no idea what they’re doing and completely unqualified to be executives.

The entire reason the company is an absolute mess and needs layoffs is because of this idiocracy at the top. They think continuously laying more and more Americans off every year is the solution. That is all they know how to do.

The fact that you have a problem with people "fussing" on this post is a joke.. Isn't the whole point of having a forum is that people can say what they want? Are people not suppose to voice their concerns when the work environment, morale, and the whole place in general is toxic and concerning? Newsflash.. Nobody has to "get over" anything...

Aww sound like somebody needs this to be a safe space. Get over it . You have a choice stay or go but constantly fussing about conditions at work or the company isn’t doing you any good either

This is in response to the previous comment. Thank you for taking the time and telling everyone what actually happened during last years layoffs! Shameful and most of us had no clue just how bad it was! This page is for people to express their feelings about this horrible company! For those that respond by saying get over it, move on and @enough is enough stay off this page since it’s clearly not for your knee bending boot licking taking it in the can while having the smallest of expectations from your employer. You are the reason why nothing will change! You are the reason why we all are expected to do more with less. There is no loyalty and all the ones left are waiting for the other shoe to drop while (yes!) looking for other work. So we’ll see you in the unemployment line right along with everyone else that tried to stand up and stand for something! Here is to freedom of speech!

I always have to laugh at some of these counter posts saying not to stress out current employees with fake news. Let's be honest, if you are a current employee of Canon and you are subscribing to this forum then, you are already stressed out from more work-related issues than what noise is posted here. Meaning, you are already paranoid that your job is in jeopardy.
While the last RIF was roughly 8 months ago, I would say the paranoia from the disgraceful way the RIF was handled by management and HR is still engrained in the current workforce.
It's very interesting that in the current political environment in the United States the distain that the American public has toward Musk and Trump regarding how they are going about reducing the federal government workforce. But that was exactly how Canon executed its RIF last year. Most employees were informed over a team's call with HR as their manager read off a script. The calls were indiscriminate to where the employee was, some were informed over teams on their laptop that was open while there were at a customer making presentations. Can you imagine being called by HR at a customer and having to go to your car and log in just to be informed that you have been let go and told to leave the customer. Just like Musk all connections to communications cut and any Canon sites for medical, benefits and email turned off with in an hour. Cell service also cut with in that hour. Employees lived their life as being part of a team, but yet not being afforded the time to say goodbye to friends and coworkers. Again, the same as Musk even current work was not transferred to remaining employees to continue work already in place. Amazing how even managers didn't reach out to their effected employee post layoff to see how they were doing, only a secondary HR person that actually had no idea about the employee and was only available over email to help with any questions.
To add insult to injury, managers told the remaining employees in that end of day meeting that they had no idea the RIF was coming but yet all the air travel and hotel reservations that were already made for advance travel was cancelled the day before. This we know as many employees as possible who were cost concerned even after being let go didn't want to burden the company with upcoming travel charges. Now imagine your shock when you call the hotel to cancel your reservations for the upcoming week to find out from the hotel that yes, your reservation was cancelled the previous day.
So, people how about less outrage to posts that may be reaching and speculative to more layoffs on this forum and a little more outrage to the shady operations that come from Canon management and HR and how they value employees.

Unless you have solid evidence, this reads more like a rant from a drunk. When you have facts, come back and post. All you're doing is stirring the pot and creating uncertainty. Very cruel act on your part.
