Pretty cool of TSMC to stop off in America before Elon starts putting their automated factories in space.
TSMC will create more jobs in America with this amount of investment $$$ while Intel tried to rip off American taxpayer dollars with Chip Act through 15K layoffs last year and more this year using marketing slogan "cost cutting" to give more money to BOD id--ts and useless upper managers.
It is horrible news for Intel, but it is great opportunity for fab engineers. Lot's of new jobs will be open soon!!

Clearly the US government is not betting on an Intel turnaround.
I guess chips act is effectively dead.
TSMC has a combined $165B in total US capex (past and future).
There is no way Intel can keep up with numbers of those magnitude.

Trump will focus on bringing the R&D side over in his third term.
Intel announced a lot of things past 20 years... It is a play with POTUS on tariffs, at it would destroy TSMC money flow. You will see TSMC cutting edge tech in USA when pigs fly.
This is a relief for both TSMC and Intel. On the other hand, Intel must be on its own feet now and deliver 18A as promised.
