Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Make TSMC American (not again).

The split is coming. They couldn’t even convince TSMC to take existing Intel assets.
(Too scared to touch em).

This is great TSMC will do X6 Ohios…. before Intel has even 1!!!

TSMC is doing good. No need to become American and failed left and right like the sh---y Intel.

Where are all the self-appointed intel influentials of billions of billions of business?

TSMC is likely trying to prevent too much wafer migration to IFS, and clearly would rather build their own fabs than to even buy the Ohio fab shells.

It is possible they are merely making statements, which may never be followed up (this is a frequent Asian negotiating tactic), but that is the beauty of the Tariffs. They go in place and that is the end of that negotiation. Trump That!

They have long stated that they don't care for the Intel fab layout, or how the tools are setup, so especially after this announcement they are making it clear that the notion of them buying IFS is a nonstarter.

I'd imagine this puts IFS in a bad way, because now they will lose engineers, techs and managers directly to TSMC if they can't become more competitive.

The smart thing would be to bring on Caufield as CEO and let him do a deal to get rid of all the non-EUV fabs, in order to get to a small enough size that the capital requirements are more manageable and the balance sheet can be cleaned up.

If Intel was under pressure to right-size the company before, that just got a whole lot more urgent, so expect an escalation of efforts to downsize the company to the point where Intel is just IFS.

This is how conglomerates end.

This was the final nail in the coffin for Intel. It’s over!

TSMC will hire lots of semi engineers. Question is how much they are willing to pay.

Better rethink your position on TSMC. They are spending 100 billion building Fabs in the US and they just got 1.5 Billion in ChipsAct money. Let’s not forget…they kick Intel’s a-s at making chips.
