Project Horizons is the name Cengage has given the layoff project. Their goal is to reduce expenses about 15 percent even though revenues this year are up a little over last year. Cengage is employing a model of moving print and some digital media production to Asia, possibly India and are willing to sacrifice quality in order to achieve cost savings. Cengage will probably lay off around 750 employees over the next 18 months in various waves. Most of the layoffs will probably be in print media production but some digital production will also be impacted.
