Thread regarding DIRECTV layoffs

Things at DIRECTV are worse than the numbers show.

A very high number of the commercial installs being closed out are not actually commercial accounts. They are residential homes that usually have past due accounts, don't qualify for new service, and definitely don't have a business. They make up names of businesses and use them. How is this ethical? The residential side isn't much better they are also giving new accounts over and over to people who have past due accounts already changing little things in the address or misspelling the name. Again how is this ethical?

I’m glad someone is calling this cr-p out! Right now it’s just a bunch of managers in a circlej--kpraising each other for these false accomplishments. I don’t think they’re d-mb enough to tout these numbers in public or try and use them as a basis for a sale but if they do they’ll get called out for it!

You are correct 1vv, not a clue. You need to understand it's not about running the company ethically it's about bolstering the "Goodwill" of the business in any manner possible. What you need to decide is are you going to be proactive with your career or stay and be a collaborator then discarded. The best time to look for work is when you have a job.

We have complained about this unethical behavior for the last 3 years. They are definitely cooking the books. The people left in charge don’t have a clue how to run a company.

Nothing new. For at least the past ten years, we installed "new customer service" at homes where the account holder has died. Rather than just move the existing account from Mr. Dead Smith to Mrs. Living Smith, we would instead pull out perfectly good Genie system to install the same stuff. When we asked about this stupid program we were told that we needed to show growth in the New Customer category.

"We just can't operate at the current capacity. I just wonder where the cuts will come from. Have to imagine the satellite side."

From all departments, "No One is Safe" Bill works for John Stankey. Mr. Stankey is still running the business.

They've been propping their numbers up for years. There are going to be more cuts in engineering for DTV Stream from what I'm hearing.

I have a very good source that said things are bad and TPG wants 20-25% gone by the time they take over. We are bleeding subscribers left and right and genre packs have very low profit margins.

We just can't operate at the current capacity. I just wonder where the cuts will come from. Have to imagine the satellite side.

We see the same thing around here. Seems we’re scrapping the bottom of the barrel and they hound you if you don’t complete the work order even though you tell them.
