Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Take a Peek Under Your Desk...

All desks now have "Desk Occupancy Sensors" installed...

Take a peek or slide your hand around where your seat is typically situated in from of your monitors. Feel a small plastic square glued to the underside?

That is a temperature activated sensor that tells 3M whether the desk is being sat in.
(Your body heat activates the device)

I can understand this from a facilities perspective. They need to know how to efficiently heat/supply/light/clean, areas of the office where there is more/less activity.

But don't think for a moment they aren't also inferring your attendance with this technology as well....

It is all these stupid comments from self entitled work from home employees showing how to beat the system....sorry going to the office interrupts your couch and shopping trips. What in the world did we do when we went to the office? Wow how spoiled and entitled you all became

You just noticed these? I saw them installed back in 2022. You folks are the pathetic ones not coming in…. Need some cheese with your wine?

Heat up a magic bag in the microwave before you go to the throne to do your business and put it on your chair/armrest.

It's not 3M that develops this. Kearney probably has more than enough experts and assets to do this. Trust me. Be warned.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up, good buddy!

I'll be back at my desk at 7:00 AM promptly, clear eyed and bushy tailed!
And stay until 5:00 PM to look good, even without being recognized or rewarded.

I'll spend my 15% time designing, building, and installing a web enabled seat warmer, that I can turn on and off remotely, to defeat the temperature sensor every day and weekends.

It's taken a quarter century to get SAP implemented. 3M doesn't have the capability to do something like this, as much as Tireman and BB would like to.

They have been there since the spaces in the quad were remodeled. They don’t track attendance with that, attendance is tracked by badge scans. This is reported by BG and function.

Time to set up an infra-red heat lamp under the desk. Productivity 24/7!

Is the heat sensors are being used to monitor attendance, then 3M is a joke now.

3M simply doesn't have the resources to do anything hi- tech, in any software related area, 3M is way behind the curve.

BB is not Bill Brown but rather 3Ms own Big Brother. Anything to make a few more bucks for himself and his wall street cronies.

Meanwhile, BB hangs out for 3 weeks of the month in Florida. Golfing, yachting, etc all for a cool 19 million.
