Let’s be honest, quality of life is set to decline for most people. At first, the optimists will put a positive spin on it, and the novelty might even feel exciting for a short while. But that won’t last. As the long hours in traffic pile up and relationships start to crack under the pressure, the reality will set in. More stress, higher costs, and less freedom will take their toll, leaving people drained and disillusioned.

You give up your soul when you go into the office

I hate being at the office. Each time I enter the office building I feel like I'm voluntarily giving away my dignity, self confidence, independence and my overall wellbeing. Once at the office I am a subject to the rules I don't always agree with, like having to keep ones desk clean or leaving a phone at the reception before entering a clean room (one of my previous clients requirement). I feel like if the rule makers decide one day that people at the office should wear a clown nose, I wouldn't have any other choice than just getting one and putting it on when walking into the elevator that takes me to whatever floor. I don't see how any of the office rules make me more productive and I feel like their outcome is the opposite. My general disgust with the office space doesn't end there. It goes on to the bathrooms where I don't feel the slightest amount of privacy only being separated with a thick door from other people. I hate having to wait for the microwave at the cantina while being forced to take part in some nonsens discussions with people I don't care for. I hate having to lock my screen each time I walk away from the computer. I hate a sh---y coffee that is being served there. I hate that each time I walk away from my computer I feel like I should be heading back there even if I don't have any tasks at hand. I hate having to be present for 8 hours while my tasks only take 2. I hate the commute and having to look for a parking place. And most of all, I hate that I can't have the other job when working from the office which makes me a tool in my bosses hands. He can decide to give me a small raise and I don't get any leverage to ask for more so I have to act happy and graceful for what I have. I could go on and on and now that I try to think of a single thing that I enjoyed back when I've been working from the office, nothing comes to my head really. Yeah I might be grumpy, but I'd much rather keep being grumpy remotely than having to ever go back to the office. Being able to work from home was high on my priority list back when making a decision regarding my future career and many years later nothing has changed in that regards

I've sent email request to my manager, with a director and VP in cc, to approve my travel to India, US and Australia so I could meet colleagues from my team and have that famous "30 seconds chat" with them.. Let's see what their reaction will be. I have an offer from another company on hands so I can't care less what their reaction will be..
