Today marks the first anniversary of the last layoff I had to go through, because after a decade of avoiding the annual Enbridge layoffs, the reaper finally came for me.
What do I miss most? My team. I had the rare privilege to lead a truly outstanding team on both sides of the border. All were high performers, and we did some truly great things. Built some massive, important infrastructure. I miss them daily. The sad fact is that in my decade at Enbridge I only remember about 3 folks making it to retirement. Everyone else fell to the reaper, like myself. But life goes on and so do we. I’m saddened that my team quickly dissolved soon after my departure, mostly due to being replaced by inept and uncaring leadership. I just don’t think Enbridge values people as it once did. So if you are still working at Enbridge, enjoy it, build great things, be a part of something special. And while I’m OK from a financial standpoint, I still miss it each and every day.

Only be loyal to yourself. Loyalty to the company is not reciprocated. You are replaceable and you are a number. I didn't realize this until it was too late.
I also was cut loose 7 years ago and it was one of the worst experiences I ever had to go through. I was fortunate to find another job quickly, but it still stings to this day.
I pour one out for each soul Enbridge has cast aside throughout the years.
I pour one out for each dream of a secure retirement dashed.
I pour on out for each family needlessly uprooted.
I pour one out those who are left that must pick up the slack.
I pour one out for all of who tried our best and succeeded, only to be failed by our senior leaders.
Sounds like you were one of the good ones that unjustifiably gets laid off every time a purge is done. Best wishes.
