I ask them once and move on. I usually will get a dirty look( get used to that). I don't TRY as hard as other associates because I just don't care. I will NOT force anyone into a credit card with a interest rate that high. Try and get them to join bronze its much easier.
Su---r those customers into a credit card with an astronomical interest rate. Those fools will do it and you don’t need to worry about it. Macys needs that credit income 😂
I talk to customers on the floor who want to know the price on an item, they usually ask for something they really want...the moment they say "it's too much or is it on sale?" that's when you casually can tell them ..."Well if you apply for a Macy's card you can save 20% of that purchase or whatever dollar amount off it is? and it only takes a couple of minutes if you would like to apply."
Make sure to tell them to pay the bill as soon as they make the purchase or they will have to pay 30% plus in interest and Macy's wonders why customers are defaulting in there Macy's accounts🤔
Plant the seed on the selling floor first, asking customers if they are Macys card holders as they shop. If they are not, let them know about the additional savings upon approval. They’ll more than likely shop more if they know they’re saving money. Give them a couple of great reasons to be a Macys card holder. Advanced notice of sales, additional discounts for card holder events, easy returns, etc. They key is to be confident and positive. Don’t take “no” as rejection…it’s simply next opportunity…I always tell the customer “I love being a Macys cardholder and always want to give my customers an opportunity to save money.” I let them know it only takes a moment to apply and they start saving with todays purchases. If they say no again, I kindly let them know if they ever reconsider we can process any time at any register.
You can use the same approach at check out as you do on the floor. Again, the key is to be consistent, confident and positive. I love opening credit and am pretty successful opening 5 to 10 per week.
It takes some practice but the fact that you’re asking for coaching is a step towards success. You’ve got this!!!
