Thread regarding HashiCorp layoffs

Reflection

I joined HashiCorp in 2016 to work on Nomad and have been with the prodct ever since… a lot of emotions today. When I started HashiCorp had under 50 people. AD personally onboarded each of us, even showing me how to use the coffee maker (and reminding me to wash my own dishes)…. There have been plenty of highs, like the IPO… also lows, like BUSL, but the Nomad team and users have been the best I’ve ever worked with.

Before this, I had only worked at startups… HashiCorp outgrew that label when it went public. Each stage of growth has been different. I have no desire to go back to roadmapping on a tiny whiteboard in a subleased office or building release binaries on my laptop.

That was fun once but Im ready for a new chapter.

I’ve heard the horror stories of being acquired by IBM, but I’ve also heard from those who thrived with the new resources and opportunities.

I’m hoping for the best for Nomad, our users, and our team. I’d like to believe there’s space for multiple schedulers, and if not, it won’t be for lack of effort…

they will try to integrate to other solutions - and fail, they will keep you for as long as necessary, they will double the price of the product, then your solution will devalue, another will take its place and you will then go down the IBM road of getting cut.
