Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

What's the word on bonuses?

No bonus most likely means your manager put you in as "underperforming". Most lower level managers were likely pressured to put at least one person in that category this year.

Haven’t heard anything yet. Getting a little nervous.

Do you think no bonuses will be communicated or just radio silence?

If you get nothing you should be worried. F you have gotten good bonuses in the past and get nothing be even more worried.

Just got mine today, hope everyone else here gets theirs (although given the wording in the HR email that may not be happening...)

Divide your bonus by 2000 hrs (est work hours per year) and count the pennies.

Not everyone will receive a bonus or raise, cross those fingers!

As predicted email came out today.

Lower bonuses than in the past. "Limited" salary adjustments and those would be communicated in late April instead of late March.

"be a primary beneficiary of rampant favoritism and nepotism."

Omg, you must mean the Art Department and JMP, lol!

I hate to agree with that, but it was my experience too. Productivity never counted much, because it was too hard for them to measure.

Really glad to be gone. All good luck to those who remain.

bzzzt Wrong guess Hans! Would you like to go for Double Jeopardy, where the scores can really change?

The "best job security ticket" at SAS (and only) is now, and always has been, to be a primary beneficiary of rampant favoritism and nepotism.

It would not be shocking if non desired staff did not receive a bonus. That could be a way of ushering staff out the door is for self departure. That is cheaper and quieter than a layoff.

Being a key contributor to supporting V9 is probably the best job security ticket presently.

I checked this week and the email last year from the ELT about Dr. G graciously giving us funds for salary adjustments, bonuses, promotions, etc came out March 4. So expect that email next week.

Manager said this week that they wouldn’t be as good as last year. I quietly thought to myself that bonuses and raises were pretty cr-ppy last year, and the year before…

"Also, it is still a few weeks early to hear anything."

It's been announced in very early March and paid around mid-March for the last several years.

The size of a bonus/raise has never been tied to the timeliness of the information. Also, it is still a few weeks early to hear anything.

Raises and bonuses, no murmurs yet. Expect sub inflation.
