What's up with the recent updates to supervisor/manager titles? Supervisors are now managers, managers are now directors, all while maintaining the same pay grade? Check titles on Workday for proof as they are not reflected yet on Outlook/Teams.

Title change and new bump up in pay means" Probationary" new job duty/ title. Management has no Union protection. Easier to fire them with proven cause as they failed in performing new changed duties/titles.
If you have been paying attention over the last couple years, HR has been updating titles and reorganizing job categories. ICs have changed to "leads" and "senior" while managers are now "managers" and "directors". Some involved pay bumps, some did not. It's a ridiculously expensive HR exercise to match MPC titles with other industry titles. While potentially needed, in MPC fashion, we spent a ton of $ on it and dedicated resources.
Come on layoffs! Cut the fat
Change is in the air.
Grade levels went up for some not for all. Title and grade level are less directly linked with this new system. The roll out is pretty stupid so far will be interesting to see how it goes with ICs
Oh wow you're right, a ton of grade bumps for supervisors. Wonder if this will apply to individual contributors as well.....what months of the year do promotions for ICs come out?? I know some come out in July...
Grade levels went up along with pay.
It started a few years ago as HR is doing industry alignment. MPC's titles were lower than that of their peers so HR is correcting. A lot of Andeavor people lost the higher titles when it was bought, now it is basically going back to their system.
My title wasn't changed.
Probably just getting a couple layers under the same title so they can eliminate a whole group without any fear of discrimination. Get ready for a large layoff in 2025.
