Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Capital markets update

God Murray is a terrible presenter! Bumbling along, no charisma, he is not a CEO.

Kate on the other hand is doing a fantastic presentation, clear and passionate.

Can we swap them round and hide Murray away again?!

Word on the street is that Elliot wasn't too impressed with the strategy reset. Glad MA got a good night's sleep because more restless nights coming.

He looked tired and somber. If he believes in this change there should be excitement behind his words. Maybe his newborn kept him up all night?

the 25% is just in office based Customer roles ... not sure what's in Customers and what's in Products these days but I think this 25% is already covered by the recent reorg.

25% was mentioned on the presentation. I do have a screen :)

The exact quote:
"25% office-based roles exiting or moving to capability hubs by end-2027"

This quote is actually a very good demonstration of their skills - they managed to forget that they have renamed capability hubs to BTCs.

And they are supposed to reorganize company... what a joke

The market update leaves more questions. In previous townhalls, GB said that even if he had $1b available he can't spend it fast enough. So how do we plant to switch production back so quickly. They laid off all the experienced reservoir engineers and geo scientists in the last re-org. EM stated that for every gas purchase there were 2 other purchases. I doubt a bag of chips and a candy bar will get us out of this hole. How are we going to reduce our emissions and grow our oil and gas yet minimize renewables spend. The entire presentation was smoke and mirrors.

ED believe was the one that mentioned the 25% leaving or being shipped out overseas. Looking for clarity if this is additional or what they were already cooking up…

who on the LT said 25% of jobs are moving to BTC? What % have moved as part of the current restructuring (must be pretty large)?

They said that 25% of the office Jobs to be moves to BTCs by 2027. Means massive layoffs.

He needs to stop clapping next to the mic.

But also, Kate absolutely not. Need an outsider or the company will die.

MA has all the charisma of a rice pudding. Soggy and bland.

Did they not know how bad he is at presenting when they took him on? Theres more to being CEO than presenting of course, but goodness me presenting should a core skill for these people.

They’re all terrible. It’s like watching high school students present a project in their economics class. I’m embarrassed.

Market response is clear that all of them need to go. No investor trusts these people with their money.
