Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Hoping to be let go

What does it say about the state of the company you work for when the only thing that puts a smile on your face is the possibility of being laid off? 'Collect your paycheck and don’t be bothered' is a nice attitude, but it can’t last forever. I could have done it for a couple of months, but going through the motions for a long time without any hope that the company or what I do might improve is unbearable. It’s all so demoralizing.

"you’re miserable now in Dell doesn’t mean other companies su-k too"

This. Dell is very low grade in terms of companies to work for.

Stick it out. Do not quit.

My last 2-3 years in dell were a real struggle. I just decided eventually to see what roles were interesting externally and tailor my training and skills to suit.

I told my manager that I’d be open to a package if one appeared and then concentrated on doing enough to get by while also upskilling.

I’m two years gone from Dell nearly and the package was a blessing. Just because you’re miserable now in Dell doesn’t mean other companies su-k too so try su-k it up.

Quit. It's your life, you can be miserable and complain online to a bunch of random people or take control of your own life and happiness.

It sounds like you don't have options and getting laid off won't change that. it's a tough market and you either have people in your LinkedIn inbox every week asking if you can interview or you don't. You know which one you are.

You sound like one of those employees who are squeezed by the company as if they were livestock. Wage slave mentality comes to mind.

I was wfr a few months ago. It felt like a betrayal at the time, but was the best thing that could have happened. Dell is a wretched place to be.
