One of Bill Brown's priorities this year is to get that number under 55%.
He's not going to do it by creating opportunity for advancement through promotion and new roles.
He just wants us to stop complaining about the lack of opportunity at 3M.

3M will just have more cuts, divestitures and spins. They’ll over hire the spins with 3Mers looking to jump ship, then break apart the spin offs and repeat until 3M is a distant memory. BB wants what his employees can never give, which is to stop existing. He really is MNNasty and the playbook is already in motion

I can remember in the 80s and 90s when people were kicking the door down in the Twin Cities to get an entry level job at 3M. Good pay, great benefits, always something going on for employees at Tartan.
Now BB is acting Minnesota Nasty and wants the peasants to fall in line and be happy with 2 percent raises just because the stock is 150 (it was 250 not that long ago).
Can't wait (sarcastically) for Tiremans replacement from Honeywell to use the machete and slice limbs off of 3M until is a pile of emaciated 0.5 to 0.75Ms.
