This is bullsh-t. Layoffs and yet everyone has noticed that our CEO has hired protection police- security for himself. It isn’t even a secret that he has them at his home too with his family . All of the cuts we did and yet we spend money on people to protect his family??? He makes enough to pay for his home and family himself.

Have they ever heard of A home alarm system and motion lights like I have at my house. They will send a message to the police if needed. What about a room they can lock themselves into an no one can get in like the movies? And there are devices that can be activated to tell people you are in trouble. That and better locks and cameras. Why are they going straignt to the 1980s old school way of using Rambo?? While at the office is one thing but for homes, sh-t like what I mentioned would work.

What a cluster fu-k! I don’t care who is fu--ing it up but I shouldn’t be paying for him to take care of his family with my hard work. I have always voted no to unions but they are clearly right that the top use our money for luxury while laying us off. Next time, it’s a yes. Thank you all for posting this.

It sounds like we are wasting money on MR F and other mismanaged programs. I hope the security manager isn't blamed. He is a nice dude and has been with us for like 15 or 20 years. If legal has the oversight, the blame and change should start there. We stopped reporting things to them in our market too because of all of the same reasons. I also think the workplace violence training was poor at best. It appeared to be a canned training class with all of the 100 level things we have all heard. But the focus should stay on why we are spending money on DF's personal needs. That is a really bad look and it is getting out in our market and could flip union talks in the future if they realize how hard we work here and how the profits are being used. Move the management of Security to Ops or HR but get it out of the hands of our unprepared attorneys and stop spending money on a millionaire that can afford it himself.

Yes, yes, yes! We don't feel safe within our distribution center and I hate to tell all of you but they handle our investigations too. They sc--w it up so much that my region doesn't call them any more and just works with HR to handle things internally. They take forever when they used to do it for us and offered poor solutions and clueless contractors to help. When we have a workplace violence problem, we work with the managers and help them handle the termination or discipline and don't get them in or they will take us down the wrong rabbit hole. Don't blame our security guy because he used to work in a different group and investigations were handled by the attorney and a senior director there that is lost and out of his sandbox. But wait and see. The fault will land on him instead of them realizing that they are the problem. Those of us that saw the workplace violence will know what a joke that is because it doesn't teach us anything that isn't already on TV or in basic websites. We are too big of a company for this mickey mouse sh-t.

This is our illustrious legal department that is at fault. Like one poster says, they think they can do it all because of a law degree when it takes experience and knowledge to do. They even try to run our food safety program and fail miserably. We do a nice job at that here in our DC while they sit in the office and discuss laws and food safety reporting. We get know direction other than fluff expectation emails so the region established their own protocols. GET LEGAL OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S BUSINESS and give the management to the experts. Now they will hear about this and blame security who is just following their directions, and demote him or her or change the structure or bring in another incompetent person to help. Wait and see. They are so predictable.

It’s all true. I was in the office a few weeks ago when he was there and yes, the guard told me who he was and a little bit on the company that contracted him had hired him for protection for MR. F. He is not a USF employee but is getting paid really well according to him. Why are we spending money on this and laying off people? The guard told me he was told it was because of the CEO that was as--ulted in New York who was head of a medical insurance company. If that’s true, why would we think that they are after a food transporter CEO? Bad apples or was it because we didn’t deliver the donuts that were promised? I mean come on legal beagles! I am with all of you that one guard makes sense but having more than one and putting them at his house is just insanity.

This can't be true. It is over the top to do that and I can't see anyone okaying this at US Foods. If he has one guard, that might make sense if there is something telling them that there is a danger lurking. However, even our executives are too smart to okay having guards at his home or to give legal the authority to lead or make the call. They don't know sh-t. Is guarding class taught in law school? I want to believe that they aren't that stupid, are they? The point is lost that if we even know all of this is going on, and it is proven true, they already failed in making sure everything is confidential.

I looked up the security Sr. Mgr. guy on outlook and he is taking his orders from our legal team. This is typical of my last decade with US Foods and the mo--nic decisions being made by those who aren't qualified. I don't think they are reading a how to book or calling state and gov cops for help because they don't do this work. If they did, it is an indication that they don't know how to do this and that they need to stay in their lane. Those attorneys think they know everything. What's next, are our attorney's going to teach our customers how to prepare their meals? Maybe they need to tell us in Replen how to do our jobs or or even take over our jobs?

What new employees did they hire or what company did they hire to do this security work? If they are this bad and they talk too fu--ing much or are being that noticeable, the blame falls orur own managers that brought them in for not owing who to hire or how to train them. The ACME post below is hilarious but so true at the same time. Our leader yahoos are probably seeking advise from a how to for id--ts book or calling security contractors or Chicago or state or givernement police for help on how to do this sh-t, like cops even know how to work iwithin a company. Regardless of iwhat they are doing, they are fu--ing it all up. From our peers in the building here at Rosemont, he does have travel guards meet him places he travels or he goes with our own security. It’s a fu--ing waste of money. I am told one of our security ducks is a 5 foot tall and old as fu-k guy . Like the poster below said ….we help you Fake it.

Well he shouldn’t feel comfortable. If his security guards are anything like the ones we have in our distribution center, he doesn’t have sh-t because they are useless. The cash we used on our building door security and cameras are also sh-t. My brother is a security director from another company and he came to see me for lunch a couple months back and he said we aren’t using the right sh-t because everything that they are using for security is mostly in the wrong places or missing from important areas. He shares all y’all’s thoughts on how lost our security managers must be. So good luck Flitman the Shitman.

This is really disheartening. In the middle of people worrying about their jobs and how we will feed our kids, he has the company pay for his security while moving our jobs to India? I have so many years and hours after hours to make sure we succeed and this is the price I pay.

No kidding. My DC doesn’t have real security. I agree with the poster below. When something happens and they look at the security and management of it maybe someone will hire someone that can help here. I came from a competitor a few years back and our head of security had our DCs safeguarded. I haven’t felt safe in years and as a woman, that is a shame.

I always wonder when something will happen, and it only gets worse when people get fired or during layoffs. Did you see the work violence training they rolled out? What a fu--ing joke!

Has anyone thought of writing the board to see if they know or approved this? Most of them are or where former executives for other companies and would know if thiis is normal. I agree some safety is needed but officers of security at his home are ridiculous unless the police told him or a person that is out to get him and then we should not pay for that. I agree that alarm systems would make sense but the officers of security are way too much. My wife is an executive assistant for a much bigger well known company CEO here in Chicago and they have alarm systems and other things but she said having offers of security shows we don’t know how to manage this. She said having what she calls “ forest GUMP” is also not how they handle it. Do we know if he is carrying a g-n or other offensive police tool?

It’s true. He told us the same thing. His company is doing all of it not US Foods associates. But they are contractors following our instructions. So it is still out fu--ing fault.

He had shut up and wouldn’t share anything. He was a nice guy but not very cerebral and a bit of a muscle head. Not what I would have expected in our office setting. Leave it up to us to fu-k up something like that. We are sometimes such armatures. SMH.

If we are really laying off, start with them.

OMG!!!! But doesn’’t he have to report certain expenses to the board and get the okay from them? I am ok with having it but if there are people at his home that is a stretch. But maybe there was a threat to his home and family that caused this to happen. Anything short of that would be an over reaction and a complete waste of money.

Many companies use a CEO security guard for but they are not as visible as the one he has here. And they normally know how to blend in and fit in. The one at US Foods stands out like a sore thumb. My company used to have one when I worked on the same floor as our CEO before coming to US Foods a decade ago. But he looked like an office worker and no one knew he was a security guard until a few years later when something happened and he sprung into action. We have hired a keystone cop that is around him as if he is the president of the United States. I am told they spend money to have security travel with him too. Maybe Accenture should take that over and send a cheaper security guard from India to save us money.

I don’t believe we are paying for his home security. At least we better not be but many in the office say yes and that they were told by the security guard that protects him.

You can’t make this sh-t up!
