Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Current metrics-look at the sustainability report

Check what we have shared publicly the 2023 sustainability report...the next one should be published this year.
Until this gets updated I'd say these are the goals and have been the goals for a few years. All to enable more equitable outcomes.

It’s very sustainable to fly out all the black employees to countless conventions ever year, agreed. Most sustainable company ever.

I can tell you all about Sustainability in EMEA in SC logistics. Last 2 years were saved because of the air to ocean switch. We are curious though to see the results for 2024, but we expect a decrease in the CO2 savings, due to Ernest's transforming of HP into Amazon (TCE, speed, fast fast, fast). Our management ki-led most of the multi modal (train+truck) because of TCE and Ernest's push to deliver yesterday if possible. We don't have a budget for sustainability initiatives so our roles are reduced to begging our carriers to give solutions but for free, and only if they don't impact the TCE.
And to clarify, in EMEA we are advanced in investments and solutions vs AMS and APJ, there it's still chaos and pollution :D . We were told that "if there are any extra unplanned savings coming out of projects- as if, then our management might consider giving it to us for sustainability initiatives.
So no money + Ernest's speed obsession = HP doesn't prioritize sustainability as it claims it is.

HP preaches about sustainability but is pretty bad at its execution. I remember during Covid when they allowed us to carefully come back to the office, they had Covid test kits and we were obligated to use them to check ourselves on site before entering the building. One person asked where we could dispose of the test kits upon completion on Yammer. The site coordinator said that they could thrown away in the trash. The asker responded with, “But this is biohazardous waste. Do we have a designated area for this type of disposal?” No response… So those Covid test kits were full of plastic and germs and contributed to landfill. That’s just one example.

There’s other examples like all of parties and catering that are done and the amount of plastic landfill is produced with that.
