It likely Kearney got anywhere from 20 to 100 million in contract work given how many of them flooded 3Ms operations even at the smaller sites. Don't forget, consultants travel 1st class and Kearney gets 100 percent reimbursement.

In an innovation company like 3M, it takes a few years for drastic cutbacks to research and supporting roles (MTEs) to show on the bottom line as lost sales and pithy OTIF.
St. Peter got his coveted 3 performance ranking and a massive bonus last year.
Now that OTIF is lagging and BB mentions that customers have left 3M because of it and went to competitors, tireman has decided to leave the mess to his successor. But we'll always have his uplifting Kearney video on Supply Chain success stories. And St. Dominic got a promotion (and then deleted his LinkedIn page when the firewall was breached).
He was only around for 3.5 years but did more than a decade worth of destruction. Even mcnerney wasn't that effective. Just how many BOD will the "legend in his own mind" be awarded with as he grabs a cool 5 million to drive off into the Maplewood sunset in his Aston Martin.

I sincerely doubt BB forced him out without telling him he's in line for a CEO or BOD position at one of the spins.
The Honeywell person knows how to break up a company. That's what BB wants.
The real question is where the pension liability is dumped. When Dupont and Dow merged and then split, Dupont somehow ended up with no pension liability from past Dupont employees. This got thrust upon the Agricultural based spin Corteva.
When Monsanto split apart about 25 years ago. They dumped pension liability into a doomed spin Solutia which had to file for bankruptcy and reorganize. I know someone personally affected by that spin and it was a mess for a while and they were never made whole.
Don't think BB has missed noticing what others have done. Just hope you are made redundant and get a decent severance package.

Operations SVP is personally scrutinising OEE for factories. Quality head demanding 20% improvement in cost of quality. Each individual function is pulling their own KPIs. Nobody knows what is the true priority within ESC now. Good that Tireman is leaving after all these mess.
Global Logistics is in chaos as well. So many transportation delays and having to move to air freight expedites. Coupled with the planning team reduction in inventory, the freight bills are going to hit the Cost of goods! No wonder wee pete is running before sh1t hits the fan
Agreed on the observation that procurement orgnaization is in a big mess now. Won't be surprised if Kelly is the next to leave 3M.
He’s leaving in part because he and Kel have damaged supplier relationships beyond repair and now 3M is going to suffer further reduced response from a once dedicated supply chain. These “leaders” have destroyed trust of business partners, decimated employee morale and driven out high performers. Good riddance!
During recent ESC townhall, Wee Pete was boasting his supply chain metrics almost all green.... and keep saying AND AND AND.....
If he is confident to bring ESC forward, then why is he retiring now? Not walking his talk.

There were 2 3M employee fatalities and one contractor (3 total) during Pete's short (pun intended) tenure.
Go back in history and tell me how long the span would be to have 3 fatalities at 3M facilities : 1 every 10 years maybe?
@bw+1jmm58srj is short sighted at best. If the metric is weight loss, would cutting off a leg be considered victory? I think not. If we could each cherry pick our metrics we’d all be considered top performers! Shut down all production and safety would certainly be industry leading, but that measure, much like @bw+1jmm58srj view of recent success, misses the big picture entirely.
Take a look at the share price since his work has take off and the safety records.

Cant help wondering if BB/board finally realized Tireman’s fabricated results were never going to have real and positive impact to earnings or balance sheet. One trick pony - cut, then cut some more, and finally depart before the smoke clears. Good riddance and better leadership with a vision in 3M’s future.
