Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

No heat

Can someone tell why we have to work in a store so cold that all the colleagues wear their coats all day while managers sit in their offices with their space heaters...

These buildings don't have traditional heat and air. They are on boilers. Once the boiler goes on, there's no shutting it off to turn on the air and vice versa. My store is over 50 years old and everything is tempermental. Additionally, the company is penny wise and pound foolish

My Macys’ always felt warm I could get away with wearing a tank top and a skirt during the cold winters.

More than half of our store feels like there is no heat in the winter and no a/c in the summer. The front part by the entrance to the mall (which also includes the offices) is pretty good on heat and a/c. The people who have to work on the cold side have been wearing jackets all winter. 🥶 Don’t even get me started on all the leaks in the ceiling. We have buckets all over the store. It’s embarrassing.

Tell me why we have to do hot store requests to adjust the temperature in our own building? Why don’t we have control of our own thermostats?

We shouldn't have to ASK FOR HEAT OR FANS AT ALL. Instead this f@$#ing company needs to fix the systems. People in prisons are treated better. I've been sick all week with a cold from freezing in this place for weeks . IT RIDICULOUS

Space heaters aren't allowed, if you have anyone in you store that is using a space heater, it's a fire hazard and should be reported.

My store has fans during the warm months.
Have you asked for some?
