Thread regarding Toronto-Dominion Bank layoffs

Be careful about applying/ working here

I have a friend who worked at TD. They reported their manager for ethics violations. Their manager 2 up swept it all under the rug turned everything on the employee- using slanderous remarks based on biases and not anything factual. My friend resigned as they didn’t want to be in that environment. The 2 up manager blamed everything/ (nothing factual but making them look like a ‘trouble maker’) on the employee. My friend has receipts/ proof. Despite my friend resigning, TD has a policy of not being able to verify if anyone is eligible for rehire. My friend got slandered by her 2 up manager and can’t even verify if anything is in their file. This lack of transparency and lack of accountability does it exist in most other banks. Be very careful if coming to work here. Managers don’t engage in teamwork- they only look after themselves, not the bank.

I had a manager at TD that did the same thing and tried to sweep it all under the rug. Another manager actually engaged HR and somehow I became the target. I had a great employment law attorney and let them know I would be sharing all communications with my attorney and all communications would need to be in writing or recorded. That solved that quickly. It magically disappeared but it became clear I was blacklisted so I left anyway.

If you want to talk to HR let them know if they do not respond then the next call or email they receive will be from my lawyer. Then and only then are they all in.

Yeah, it’s not something you think about when coming to work here. Also, try getting a hold of your personnel file. You’ll get the runaround with tickets being submitted, gaslighting and delays. The fragile, incompetent leadership seems to enjoying putting something in/on your back after or maybe even before you leave, as they can’t stand the loss of control if you leave, and they want to do permanent damage to your record and career. Be very careful. Coming to work here is a major risk to one’s reputation, peace of mind and well being.

I can attest to the management of TD being the same way. Managers do the talk about being supportive but when faced with an employee that is going through a difficult time, they will not support them, harass them, belittle them in front of other employees and behind the employees back. HR gets involved but nothing happens. Then the manager comes up with a PIP that doesn't work because receipts of incompetence of the manager are available and then HR drops the investigation. Out of our team of 5; 4 were cut and our incompetent manager stayed. Good grief - run don't walk from this place. I am so glad I am out of there
