Thread regarding Optum layoffs

You'll feel like a new person

I used to work at Optum. Felt sick to my stomach pretty much every day. Toxic environment, horrid managers, laughable HR, and absolutely no appreciation for anybody. I was so happy when I got laid off. My entire body relaxed. My conscience was cleared. The entire UHG organization is nothing short of evil. They couldn't care less about you, your colleagues, and most of all their insureds. It's analogous to our current administration, frankly. (Did you know Witty paid a million bucks for a seat at the table at the FL "white house"?) More money for the bigwigs and to he-l with anybody else. I think the moment I truly realized how awful the place is was when I was tasked with making claims-denial letters "friendllier." OMG. Being unemployed is indeed scary, but take some time to reflect, breathe, and heal. You're better off in the long run.

I worked for optum for about 10years when it was prohealth but then things changed management brought in family members and friends. Management and Directors had no clue. I worked in the lab and had many jobs every 2wks your job changed, and you were responsible for the last person's job. Management would call you in the office yell at you in front of co-workers and other managers very unprofessional. Mangement hired family members as a supervisor for night however that supervisor would come in the day and leave before the night shift ended leaving work for the morning this happen on a regular. I'm glad to have moved on from that place. I feel sorry for some of the workers there but not for most. I believe management and the lack of knowledge helped to close the lab down.

I don't stress about it anymore. After the last big layoff session a few years ago, and escaping that, I decided from then on that I was longer going above & beyond, being an "Exceeds Expectations" employee, not volunteering for OT, not volunteering for extra work projects, etc. Still got 5's and excellent reviews and RRP....until this year (which goes to show you the ratings are all BS). I already have a plan if and when I do get laid off, I most likely won't be returning to this corporate bs and find a way to hang on til my retirement kicks in.

You know nothing about us or our individual circumstances. Go Away

Never felt better since leaving Optum. No stress at new job, 8-5 hours , no more 60-80 hour weeks dealing with constant issues interrupting my personal life. Its amazing how much better you will feel once leaving. They truly treat their employees like you are working in a sweat shop

I'm with you. I left Optum a few months ago and it turns out, I don't need anxiety meds, my job was making me miserable! My bald patches from stress-related hair loss are growing back and I finally feel healthy.

No surprised that you're unemployed after being tasked with making claim denial letters "friendllier".
